--- Comment #9 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-06-07 04:48:13 --- OK I upgraded to the latest version and it's still not working so I thought I had to change that. Sorry.
Also I was wondering what we can do to speed up the process if anything, as I was reading a very old forum where some guy was working with a team from bugzilla to get this VT Trader running on WINE and then he was never heard from again and nor has the app ever worked on WINE. The team has done a fantastic job getting this to the point it is at right now and there are a lot of people that appreciate their efforts but until it actually runs, there are a bunch of us using windows purely for this applcation and most of us can't wait to get rid of windows. So excuse my enthusiasm with this project.
I am fairly new to Ubuntu and there are probably hundreds of apps waiting in the queue just thought I'd pass on my thoughts :)

--- Comment #11 from Kai Blin kai.blin@gmail.com 2008-06-27 05:01:21 --- Er, crap. I don't know why I missed this before..
The app tries to call secur32 to load the schannel provider, which currently isn't implemented in Wine. Changing bug summary and component to reflect this.
There might be a workaround for using schannel.dll from Windows, I'm currently waiting for the author to post an updated version of that patch.

--- Comment #12 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-06-27 06:04:41 --- Great! I am so hoping I can get this working and others too from the V forum are all wanting to get rid of windows but this one program is holding us all back :(

--- Comment #13 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-06-30 20:57:27 --- I got past this step (bug??) by installing wine doors which got me to the point where I had the choice of a server and could put in my username and password. It apparently checked the version was OK but then would hang and give an error : Server could not be reached. I connected to VT Trader with my windows account and had no problem. Is there any software that tells you what you need to install to get this working? And then installs what you need? I have a valid XP license.

--- Comment #15 from Kai Blin kai.blin@gmail.com 2008-07-03 07:08:57 --- Current GIT has a patch to allow loading a native version of schannel.dll if present. Can you try if that works?

--- Comment #16 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-07-03 07:29:07 --- OK do I need to use a win98 version of that?

--- Comment #17 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-07-03 08:31:21 --- Kai Blin, I'm not sure who your last message was directed at. I don't know what the GIT is but I did download win98 version of schannel.dll and replaced the installed schannel.dll in system32 with it. That did not work. Perhaps the message was for someone who knows a little more about wine?

--- Comment #18 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-07-08 20:18:24 --- I already know for a fact that this bug is fixed if you use Winedoors and another bug presents itself in that VT cannot connect to the net. Considering each bug takes approximately a month to get fixed, am I wrong in assuming it will be the year 2050 before this application works with Ubuntu???
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13382
--- Comment #19 from James Hawkins truiken@gmail.com 2008-07-08 20:24:54 --- If you want it to get fixed more quickly, work on your coding skills or hire a developer to fix the bug. Complaining doesn't make anyone particularly want to work on this bug though.

--- Comment #20 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-07-08 20:54:13 --- I'm not complaining. I am asking a question. Your reply is of no help what so ever. If you can't help don't waste everyone's time having to read your pointless post!

--- Comment #21 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-07-08 21:07:48 --- Furthermore unlike people on this site that need to get wine working so they can play games. People need this application for work purposes. Of course someone could pay a developer to have this working on Ubuntu but then why use WINE in the first place? Some nut on the forum told me not to use wine doors as it is not supported by WINEHQ and then gave me terminal commands to delete it which instead deleted all my data in Ubuntu! Took me 3 days to copy it all back across from a backup. Add to the fact that wine doors got me further with this app than WINE and I think I have an excuse for not being in the best of moods.
My point is I would simply like to find out a realistic time frame to get this going. After discovering posts in a forum from 2 years ago by someone that was supposedly working with "the guys" at WineHQ to get it going then hearing nothing since except posts asking whats happening, leaves me wondering if I and others are just wasting our time with this. No offence to the coders working on it. But please understand I don't know how WINE works but if my fears are correct we are trying to build a car from the ground up and so far we have a windscreen wiper and a handbrake. I really hope I am wrong and instead we have all components except the wind screen wiper and hand brake :)
