Bug ID: 46775 Summary: DUMB TYPO Steam (from steam-wine-git AUR) crashes when attempting to access controller settings for desktop or general Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: mobiuscode@tutamail.com Distribution: ---
I merely want my retrolink gamecube-style controller to work with ALL the games I've installed on Steam using steam-wine. Apparently the bug, according to a developer of one of the games that doesn't work, stems from Proton https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1549 but I can't troubleshoot it because the moment I try to access the controller settings, several popup errors appear saying something (one was I think "can't find surface"), none of which are searchable (until after I paste them here, I guess). One of them also appears when run from Konsole:
"\src\panorama\renderer\d3d10d2dsurface.cpp (9532) : Assertion Failed: No D2D device created, possible no GPU supoprting D3D10_FEATURE_LEVEL_9_1 or higher was found? Can't create surface."
And WHY IS SUPPORTING MISSPELLED ON WINE ALONE????

Presumably from the program's source, which is probably not public.
If you are using DXVK, then file a bug with DXVK, not here.

Okay, sorry for anger. I'll be linking this page to the issue I submit over at github, just so you know...

--- Comment #9 from Chiitoo escomk3@hotmail.com --- The controller settings features unfortunately require Steam Big Picture mode, which seems to run if a stub is added (see bug 46817 [1]), but it will probably be unusable due to bug 44120 [2].

--- Comment #10 from Chiitoo escomk3@hotmail.com --- Seems like it is somewhat usable (without manually adding the stub) when using Wine Staging, but no text is rendered making it quite challenging (at least for someone like me who never used this interface before).
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46775
--- Comment #11 from Chiitoo escomk3@hotmail.com --- Apologies... I was doing some other testing on the side, and my non-Staging Wine build was at pre 5.0 release state.
At least at current git master it works (without text) with vanilla Wine as well.
