I searched for another bug report on this but did not find anything.  I've
tested the same application on two similar systems with similar software loads.
 Essentially, the application (Majesty) preforms considerably better on a
single core system than it does on a more powerful dual core system.

Single Core System:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3300+
1.5 Gig RAM
GeForce 6200 256M

Dual Core System:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
2 Gig RAM
GeForce 7800 256M

Both systems are running Debian Etch, with kernel version 2.6.18-5-k7, NVIDIA
GLX Module 100.14.19, and Wine 0.9.53 (using Scott's packages).

I would expect the dual core system to run as well, if not better, than the
single core system.  However, it is extremely sluggish on the dual core system
and blazingly fast (in some cases needing to be slowed down) on the single
core.

I have also tested the dual core system with 0.9.54 (built using Scott's 0.9.53
package as a basis), with no improvement.  I'll happily provide any additional
information that would be helpful.

Does the same application behave better on the dual-core system on Windows?  If
not, this isn't a Wine bug.  (Even if so, it's not necessarily a Wine bug, it
could be in the kernel or in your video card drivers or elsewhere.)

I'm afraid you'll have to do more debugging before you can say for sure where
the bug lies..

I had run Majesty on this computer when I still had Windows, and it ran
perfectly fine with my dualcore.  On Wine, it run's slowly.

I'm Running:

Ubuntu Hardy
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
2 gig RAM
Geforce 7600 256M  (Driver 169.12)
Kernel 2.6.24-19
Compiled Wine (I git and make every 2 or 3 days)

I've noticed that the only time I see any slowdown is in-game, the menu's and
such run perfectly fine (except the videos which don't play).

After slogging through some relay information, the only graphical API I saw was
gdi (although this was in no way an exhaustive search through the log).

You could force the app to run on a single core and compare.

With Wine v1.1.2 Majesty now fails to even install.  I'll start trying some
older versions to see when the installation stopped working.

I'm able to get Majesty installed with v1.1.11.  However, I can't seem to find
a single version of wine that will successfully start the game under Ubuntu
8.10.  I've tested with a completely new wine prefix/directory.  I've opened a
separate bug report for the problem.  However, for now I don't seem to have a
means of testing the performance.

It is the correct game, but the links there leads to a Mac version.  Don't see
a Windows version for download.
