Simple .net apps should work in Wine without having to install anything extra; see http://wiki.winehq.org/Mono for current status.
This affects, for instance, the Sims 3 launcher.

Then this is not a .NET Framework/Wine bug but rather a Wine/Mono packaging one (app works with .NET preinstalled using winetricks). Removing 'dotnet' keyword and setting component to "mscoree" to indicate Mono task. I hope you don't sabotage second class citizens beyond repair when making the Mono inclusion move ... ;-)

It looks like we'll need a Win64 port of Mono, and a unified packaging system (which Jacek was working on in appwiz.cpl last I heard).
