Summary: Total Annihilation: Unhandled page fault on startup Product: Wine Version: 1.1.15 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: niko.vuokko@tkk.fi
Created an attachment (id=19424) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=19424) Stderr output on starting the game
When starting the game it gets to change resolution and then crashes back to desktop without ever showing any game graphics. Looks like it's trying to access a null pointer.
I've got X server 1.5.3, Intel 4500 GPU, has direct rendering working. This is the first Wine app I'm testing on the machine.
My Gentoo box is 64-bit, but Wine is 32-bit, installed without any mods.

Looks like it's trying to access a null pointer.
Looks like. The trick is to find out where the null pointer comes from.
You might try getting a +relay log and attaching it here: WINEDEBUG=+relay wine totala.exe >& relay.txt
Then attach it if it's not too bug, or compress it and attach it if it's pretty large.

--- Comment #2 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr 2009-02-14 01:22:35 --- Does there exist a demo of this game? If yes, does this ug occur too for the demo? If the answer is positive for both questions, can you write the URL of the demo at its place?

--- Comment #4 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr 2009-02-16 12:07:05 --- Surely a driver bug. Could you test the demo?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17377
--- Comment #5 from Niko Vuokko niko.vuokko@tkk.fi 2009-02-19 08:32:38 --- I was quite surprised, the demo works like a charm, no problems during a 5 minute test. Console output had nothing strange in it. When you say that it's a driver problem, do you mean the graphics driver? I can try it with the newest xf86-video-intel 2.6.1.
I can also send the demo's relay log or at least the first 5000 (?) lines of it, if it's needed.

--- Comment #6 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr 2009-02-19 12:40:35 --- Yes, you should update your graphic driver
