82a232d1544eb71e3db3e94d0f88a63e7968fe4d is the first bad commit commit 82a232d1544eb71e3db3e94d0f88a63e7968fe4d Author: Aric Stewart aric@codeweavers.com Date: Wed Oct 27 13:14:15 2010 -0500
winegstreamer: Add gstreamer YUV->RGB transform filter.
Rome Total War crash at start. Log attached. I did try reverting the patch but it won't revert from 1.3.27. I also tried to set winegstreamer.dll to disabled with no luck. I did try the demo but it isn't affected. Also some reports from AppDB with the GOLD version (which is the same I have) are platinum, so maybe there is something specific about my configuration or game version.
I have installed: gstreamer.i686 0.10.31-1.fc14 gstreamer-devel.i686 0.10.31-1.fc14 gstreamer-ffmpeg.i686 0.10.11-1.fc14 gstreamer-plugins-bad-free.i686 0.10.20-3.fc14.1 gstreamer-plugins-bad-free-devel.i686 0.10.20-3.fc14.1 gstreamer-plugins-base.i686 0.10.31-1.fc14 gstreamer-plugins-base-devel.i686 0.10.31-1.fc14 gstreamer-plugins-good.i686 0.10.26-1.fc14 gstreamer-plugins-ugly.i686 0.10.16-2.fc14 gstreamer-python.i686 0.10.19-1.fc14 gstreamer-rtsp.i686 0.10.7-1.fc14 gstreamer-tools.i686 0.10.31-1.fc14
The game crash approx at the moment where it should play intro video. I did a quick check and all the game videos are in wmv format. BTW the videos never worked.

--- Comment #1 from Christopher May maquis196@yahoo.co.uk 2011-08-29 09:44:17 CDT --- I did some testing and can confirm this happens to me when I compile wine with gstreamer.
I have the latest platinum test results and I can confirm that even 1.3.24 fails with gstreamer compiled in. My tests are usually with wine compiled from portage and by default I don't have gstreamer support.
I'll test with latest version, game loaded with 1.3.27 but crashed before going to map so might be a different bug.

--- Comment #2 from Christopher May maquis196@yahoo.co.uk 2011-08-29 09:56:41 CDT --- Tested with 1.3.27 with --without-gstreamer option. The game completely fails to start like Pavel's copy.
Obviously the 1.3.26 still doesn't work because of previous bug.

Does it help if you disable multisampling in Wine's registry? I also have a problem starting Rome:TW with Wine >1.3.26. The game crashes with a
err:seh:setup_exception_record stack overflow 832 bytes in thread 0009 eip 681ea57d esp 00230ff0 stack 0x230000-0x231000-0x330000
message in the terminal. Disabling multisampling in Wine resolved that problem. If this applies to you as well, then yes, this is a different problem.
As for the originally reported problem, the game still crashes in 1.3.29, when it tries to play the first intro video. Disabling winegstreamer.dll in the libraries tab worked around the crash for me.

The last log was also a crash as this one is... Well its not like a normal crash (with the crash dialog and backtrace) it just exits with the err:seh:raise_exception. I did try to run it with winedbg, but all I get is a window "A debugger has been detected","Unload the debugger and try again".

So the game is creating a DirectX9 Texture renderer and then trying to hook the avi file to that. Our filtergraph is failing to do so correctly and I think that is causing issues.
none of the native renderers like the fact that gstreamer returns inverted height. So I have a patch that should make gstreamer return values that native renderers like better. It is a hack because i am not actually un-inverting the image. So your movie will play upside-down if it plays.
Could you try that hack and then give me another log, just to see if behavior changes.

I'm not able to compile wine with gstreamer in current wine (probably due to bug 30557), so this is blocked ATM.

--- Comment #32 from Giacomo Orlandi gia_@inwind.it --- If the game doesn't crash anymore and that was the reported issue this bug should be closed, and a new bug should be opened about the next issue. A bug report is created for each bug, rather than 1 bug report per application/game. AFAIK that's the policy here, which makes sense.
