Summary: EVE Premium Client Login Screen Black Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: All URL: http://eve-online.com OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: epssyis@gmail.com
When you start the eve client in premium mode the login screen has a black area covering the usual visual of the eve logo scrolling over to near a planet. This has been the case for the last few releases of wine so I have included the bisect result.
76014205de3cbd73fe761db8f86fcdb178bb0189 is first bad commit commit 76014205de3cbd73fe761db8f86fcdb178bb0189 Author: Roderick Colenbrander thunderbird2k@gmx.net Date: Sat Mar 29 14:48:15 2008 +0000

Note that the comments seem to imply that the graphic behind the black area isn't being rendered though when you enter the game you can see it for a split second.
If any other debugs are wanted please ask for them.

--- Comment #7 from Vorobyov Anton phoenix@mail.ru 2008-04-08 15:52:09 --- Again, don't have time to check everything, but it seems that metioned commit causes issue (kinda confirming :) ). Textures of light are probably the only affected object (this could be easily seen on stations, e.g. amarrian one). Wine just doesn't correctly blend black part of textures, which results in pretty ugly side-effects...

Hi ^^,
Recently i tested this git version : wine-0.9.59-179-ga64333, and the errors continue ^^, but in this version loading windows, and the genral look of the game is better, no glitches in the windows, the fonts are correctly rendered too... how you wrote, probably the only affected object is the Textures of light, i'll continue testing this version =)
Thanks for all and fly safe =)

--- Comment #16 from Martin B. zettdee@gmx.at 2008-04-19 16:31:19 --- For me this issue still persists in wine version 0.9.60. (built from source on 64bit gentoo) Tested with nvidia driver version 169.09.
Alpha blending does not seem to work correctly, instead textured objects which are supposed to be alpha blended are rendered opaque. This observation also matches previously posted descriptions and screenshots of this problem.
best regards

--- Comment #17 from Martin B. zettdee@gmx.at 2008-04-19 17:43:56 --- reverting the changes from commit 76014205de3cbd73fe761db8f86fcdb178bb0189 in the 0.9.60 source resolved the problem.
I assume this essentially boils down to adding a test so that blending is only disabled if pixel shaders are used. So the EVE premium client obviously doesn't use pixel shaders for this transparent stuff and for some reason the WINED3DFMT_FLAG_POSTPIXELSHADER_BLENDING is not set. There is no problem with the classic client so this one has the flag set. Yet both clients use the same pixel format. I wonder how the hell this flags are determined?
Could this be a bug in the EVE client?
