Summary: File handles keep open after PowerPoint 2007 is closed Product: Wine Version: 1.3.1 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: m.duelli@web.de
When working with PowerPoint 2007 on files which are stored on a USB stick, you cannot cleanly unmount the USB stick after closing PowerPoint since it complains about open file handles.
Workaround: You have to kill the wineserver such that all file handles are closed.

--- Comment #1 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2010-09-20 18:22:41 CDT --- Are you sure that powerpoint is not still running?
Attach a text file with the output of:
ps aux lsof

--- Comment #2 from Michael Duelli m.duelli@web.de 2010-10-11 06:47:52 CDT --- You are right, a powerpoint process is still running.
It seems to happen mostly (only?) with PPTX files but not with all of them. In such cases, there is a message about a failure closing PowerPoint.

--- Comment #3 from Michael Duelli m.duelli@web.de 2011-07-15 09:30:53 CDT --- Created an attachment (id=35556) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=35556) Back trace
I used winedbg to output the attached back trace of the described problem by attaching winedbg to the POWERPNT process.
However, when closing the presentation winedbg also quits.
The POWERPNT process keeps on running for some time until an error message dialog from wine appears that states that there was a problem with POWERPNT.EXE

--- Comment #5 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-11-13 16:51:34 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
