--- Comment #1 from Sebastian Lackner sebastian@fds-team.de --- The attached crash log and missing rstrtmgr.dll.RmShutdown implementation are two separate issues. As far as I remember, Git for Windows works fine with the Staging branch. @Qian: Do you still remember which bug it was?

I just retested Git-2.7.0-32-bit.exe, I can confirm Git for Windows works with Wine Staging 1.8 .

Seems to be still valid against wine 2.0.rc3. I opened a ticket against it bug 42093.
I was about to test those patches but I don't know how I can merge them. 1st patch of the series gives this error.
patch: **** Only garbage was found in the patch input
I tested this bug against wine-staging 2.0.rc3 and it indeed finishes. The unimplemented function isnt fatal in this case.

--- Comment #7 from Louis Lenders xerox.xerox2000x@gmail.com --- Hi , so this installer finishes (albeit after long time) apparently fine in wine-Staging.
@Qian: Do you know what patch from staging exactly fixes this bug? I guess AFAICT it should be marked as "fixed in Staging" then

--- Comment #9 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
resolving 'fixed' here. The test procedure is kinda complicated because the installer suffered from quite a number of overlapping issues.

It was supposed to be fixed by commit https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/7b66f9f6b475f95aaabdc4c2a2d44f... ("ntdll: Commit new guard pages in virtual_handle_stack_fault.") in Wine 1.8+

Extracted case:
--- snip --- $ wine "C:\Program Files (x86)\Git\bin\rebase.exe" -b 0x64000000 "usr\bin\msys-2.0.dll" --- snip ---
Starting with Wine 1.9.23 the crash of 'rebase.exe' was gone due to commit https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/55be713d76bef86ba7577c810a... ("cmd: When 'if' condition is not met, ignore the next commands in the list.")
That doesn't count as a proper fix for this installer because execution of 'rebase.exe' was now skipped due to different 'cmd.exe' behaviour.
Content of 'post-install.bat':

Since the original bug report was about 'rebase.exe' crashing/hanging, using https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/a95d7f6c4fc17d5bb3b83ef6c7... ("ntdll: Recreate the process parameters structure once everything has been initialized.").
NOTE: The rebase tool still doesn't work under the hood but that's a different problem.
