Summary: winetest should recover if it somehow brings down the OS Product: Wine Version: 1.1.10 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: programs AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: madewokherd@gmail.com
It seems the ddraw:d3d tests cause my machine to reboot. While it would be nice to fix them or skip that test somehow, this shouldn't stop me from running the test suite. Winetest should be able to resume the tests where it left off when the machine starts again and make a note that a particular test apparently brought down the system.
Windows has an API for this sort of thing: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc948909(VS.85).aspx

--- Comment #2 from Vincent Povirk madewokherd@gmail.com 2008-12-07 18:28:03 --- I do. But I maintain I should be able to run the tests anyway.

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-12-09 04:32:09 --- This bug is more generic than the ATI test failing. If some other test fails and causes the box to reboot, we should be able to recover and carry on the rest of the tests.

That's unreasonable to require from a simple tool launcher. If the box reboots, that's the problem to fix.

That's why it's labeled enhancement :-)
I don't think it's a high priority either, but if someone wants to implement it, I think it is a reasonable goal.
If consensus is against it, then close this bug. But I felt that was done a bit hastily.

--- Comment #9 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2008-12-10 01:26:26 --- I don't think Alexandre will ever accept that. How could he test that?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16395
--- Comment #10 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-12-10 01:34:42 --- How about instead making it a dupe of bug 13029? Those users with ATI cards (or any other test that triggers a buggy driver) could still run the rest of the conformance suite, and selectively disable the buggy test(s).
