Summary: Keyboard focus lost after switching to another app and back Product: Wine Version: 1.1.33 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: waldner+bugs.winehq.org@waldner.priv.at
Hi,
starting with wine 1.1.28 (.deb, via http://www.winehq.org/download/deblenny ), whenever I switch focus away from a fullscreen app in wine (by changing to another virtual desktop), I can't get the keyboard focus back to wine - mouse works fine, though. The typed characters appear in the terminal where I started wine instead. The appearance is that wine somehow prevents the window manager from sending the focus to wine.
I found a couple bugs to that effect, all duplicated to 19822 (tagged FIXED for 1.1.29) or 19874 (tagged CLOSED WORKSFORME). However, the bug still appears in 1.1.33.
Tested with (originally noticed when running World of Warcraft): - rm -rv ~/.wine - install the to-be-tested wine - run winecfg, say "no" to gecko download - set "emulate a virtual desktop", size 2048x1152 (my native screen resolution) - ok - re-run winecfg - go to "Libraries", type a couple characters in the "new override" field - switch virtual desktop, type a couple characters in an xterm there - switch virtual desktop back to wine
The various other options under "Graphics" in winecfg don't make any difference regarding this.
Tested with wine 1.1.28, 1.1.29, 1.1.30 and now 1.1.33. Have NOT tested 1.1.31 and 1.1.32. This was not a problem with wine from 0.95 up to incl. 1.1.27.
Environment: Debian 5.0.3 (Lenny) i386, up-to-date, Enlightenment as window manager (3x3 virtual desktops).

--- Comment #3 from Robert Waldner waldner+bugs.winehq.org@waldner.priv.at 2009-12-07 12:38:30 --- A couple addendums: - Just noticed a work-around: set "focus follows mouse" in Enlightenment (of course one gets, well, focus-follows-mouse then, which for people like me is highly annoying) - to be completely clear: I first tested current git, it does exhibit the 'bad' (for me) behaviour, then I set 'git bisect good wine-1.1.27' and 'git bisect bad wine-1.1.28'
