I think I've found another way to avoid this bug. If you completly disable sound by using "./Woe.exe -nosound" you don't get lockups. I currently think that this bug is somewhere in the wines dsound.dll. I ran the test program yesterday and it did not produce the error as expected but ran out of resources...
I can confirm that -nosound works, had 4-5 lockup in a row (all with in being in game 3-10 seconds) added -nosound haven't locked up since. this is on 0.9.56 haven't installed 0.9.57 yet today. I do miss my sounds though.
