The Magnus 2011 translation dictionaries don't work. They can be downloaded from: http://www.vocab.cz/download/magnus2011_9.5.6.rar
Setup seems to proceed fine, but the application crashes right on startup. Wine is of version 1.6, as installed by Fedora package wine-1.6-1.fc19.i686
Exact steps:

confirming. It seems the app queries/enumerates Wine gdiplus encoders and is unhappy that GIF encoder support is missing.

You have to debug the app to see failure within app code. The app checks for following encoders:
"image/bmp" "image/png" "image/jpeg" "image/tiff" "image/gif"
Work around using 'winetricks gdiplus'

Work around using 'winetricks mdac27'
With those prerequisites in place the app starts successfully.

thanks a lot for a fast response! Are you able to open a database? Upon startup a dialog appears, try selecting any of the .msg files in the data subdirectory. For me it fails with "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed".
Log file (magnus.exe.gdiplus.mdac27.log) attached, the "err:ole:create_server class {76a64158-cb41-11d1-8b02-00600806d9b6} not registered" should correspond to wbemdisp.dll, I found some commits ([1]) related to that, could it be that you are already using a version of wine containing it? I tried copying that from Windows, together with the .tlb file, not sure if it was really that successful as the message says:

After that this missing uuid went away, but otherwise it still does not work -- second log with wbemdisp.dll is attached as magnus.exe.gdiplus.mdac27.wbemdisp.log.

Attached patch should move the burden of supporting the GIF encoding from gdiplus to the real offender - windowscodecs, and make the task of detecting the problem slightly more easier to recognize from wine console FIXME spam.
Moreover, most of affected applications should start work until they actually attempt to create a GIF encoded stream or file, but that's a separate problem.
