Summary: Crimsonland: Mouse moves to the upperleft corner and freezes Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: benbelly@gmail.com
When I start Crimsonland in either window or non-window mode, when the menu appears, the game cursor drifts to the top left corner of the game and will not move. I can exit the game with Alt-F4.
I am running Ubuntu 7.10 64-bit and Wine 0.9.57 installed from the winehq repos.
I'm using a MS USB Sidewinder mouse, but I have tried with another mouse (MS USB Optical mouse) attached and see the same problem.

I've done some more testing. After reinstalling Crimsonland, I found that the mouse works fine during the nag screen. If I select "Not now" for the payment, I go to the main menu and the cursor immediately goes wonky again. If I register and go to the main menu - wonky cursor.
If I deselect 'Allow the window manager to control the windows', I get the same problem, but cannot F4 to kill the window.

--- Comment #2 from Rich Rincebrain@gmail.com 2008-03-08 13:22:26 --- What happens if you try running it inside of a virtual Windows Desktop? (Graphics->Emulate a virtual desktop)? I'd guess the same bug will happen, but I'd like to be sure.

The bug happens in a virtual desktop as well.

--- Comment #4 from Rich Rincebrain@gmail.com 2008-03-08 13:54:33 --- I really want to say it's something odd with 64-bit and Wine interaction, but I'm not going to claim that without further testing.
Could you try 0.9.51 or thereabouts? (This will eventually lead to a request to git bisect, but I'm trying to figure out if this is a new problem for you or if this has always been the case, and nobody with whatever configuration causes this has tried before.)

I get the same behavior in 0.9.51. I poked around and my original download for CrimsonLand was in Dec '07. I believe I had the same problem back then, but I was just installing this system and didn't look into it much.

Same thing in 0.9.43 which was the last reported good in the AppDB. Should I go back further?

As far as I know, the 'demo' version is just a the full version before it is unlocked. Yes, I have the same behavior before unlocking the game. If there is a download for a different demo, give me a link and I will try it.

--- Comment #9 from Vit Hrachovy vit.hrachovy@sandbox.cz 2008-03-09 15:21:52 --- Confirming the same issue for Morrowind (Wine 0.9.55), but it could be solved using Virtual Desktop.

--- Comment #10 from Vit Hrachovy vit.hrachovy@sandbox.cz 2008-03-09 16:19:28 --- Morrowind says:
fixme:dinput:SysMouseAImpl_Acquire Clipping cursor to (-1,-1)-(1029,792)
in Wine 0.9.56.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11927
--- Comment #11 from Rich Rincebrain@gmail.com 2008-03-09 16:34:56 --- Crimsonland says something similar in 0.9.57 for me as well, though I do not encounter this bug, and I'm not on the system I can get this output from.
I'll paste mine later - Ben, can you do the same?
Vit, does it print the same output both for inside a Virtual Desktop and not?

--- Comment #12 from Vit Hrachovy vit.hrachovy@sandbox.cz 2008-03-09 16:54:14 --- If I set Virtual Desktop to 1024x768 and Game to run in Window, it says: fixme:dinput:SysMouseAImpl_Acquire Clipping cursor to (0,0)-(1030,780)
If I set Virtual Desktop to 1024x768 and Game to run in Full screen, it says: fixme:dinput:SysMouseAImpl_Acquire Clipping cursor to (0,0)-(1024,768)
Both work nice in Virtual Desktop.

--- Comment #14 from Ben benbelly@gmail.com 2008-03-29 06:26:58 --- I just upgraded to 0.9.58, and this bug is gone. Everything works as expected now. Both with and without Emulate Virtual Desktop checked. Since I'm the only one who saw this bug any way, I guess I'll mark it fixed.
Thanks to everyone who looked into it.
