Please install Wine debug symbols and attach complete terminal output as described here: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log
Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. Please find attached the terminal output with debug symbols. I generated the file with the following command:
$ WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid wine PDFXCView.exe &> debug.txt
Since the compressed debug.txt is larger than 1MB, I split it into two files. debug1.txt contains the first half of the debug.txt file.
And, just to clarify things:
The installer I am using is the ZIP Installer from the following page: http://www.tracker-software.com/product/downloads
$ du -sh PDFXVwer.zip 19M PDFXVwer.zip 19M total

--- Comment #8 from mcalison@web.de 2012-06-08 07:24:38 CDT --- I face the same bug when trying to save a file with PDF-XChange-Viewer.
System: Xubuntu 12.04 amd64
Wine Versions wine 1.4 (from the Ubuntu repositories) wine 1.4. (from winehq ppa) wine 1.5.5 (from winehq ppa)
PDF X-Change Viewer Versions: 2.5.200 (EXE-Installer) 2.5.201 (EXE-Installer)
A similar bug was described by at least 3 other users in the German ubuntuusers.de forum (see http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/pdf-xchange-viewer-wine-stuerzt-beim-speic...). Since it is German I quickly summarize the thread:
The reporter's system setup was: Ubuntu 12.04, Wine 1.4, PDF-XChange-Viewer 2.5.201. In response to the reporters message a second user with the same problem attached the console output below.
A third user replied that he installed wine1.3 from the "Oneiric Oncelot" repository in response to the bug and then did not face these issues anymore.
Thanks to all wine developers. ----- Andreas

...just tried the Portable version of PDFXChangeViewer 2.5.201 without any problems (my System setup see comment #8).
(In reply to comment #1, Focht) ... I also tried .msi-Installer. That didn't resolve the bug on my setup.

--- Comment #10 from mcalison@web.de 2012-09-02 06:25:11 CDT --- Hi folks,
there's a workaround to this problem in the AppDB [1] which I want to post here for those like me, who looked at the bugtracker for any solutions.
Using the PDF-X-Change Installers and (partially) overwriting the installed files in %HOME/.wine/.../%INSTALL_DIR with the files from the portable version worked for me. I only tested if it solves the "save" problem and it did, so I made not an extensive research on possible side-effects.
Note: If you already changed some settings in the installed version, you might not want to copy 'Settings.dat' from the portable version.

--- Comment #14 from Masum Habib masum.habib@gmail.com 2013-01-09 18:03:20 CST --- I just wanted to let you guys know that I have found an workaround. This works only with the 32bit version of PDFXViewer. Do the following:
1. Create a new wine directory (this step is mandatory): mkdir $HOME/wine32
2. Force wine to use 32 bit version: export WINEPREFIX=$HOME/wine32 export WINEARCH=win32 wine winecfg
3. Run the installer using wine. It now should work just fine. It worked for me both in Arch Linux and Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit.
It may be a good idea to add export commands in your .profile or .bash_profile file.
Hope it helps. Thanks. -- Masum

--- Comment #19 from Mavi spatialmodels@gmail.com 2013-04-08 03:20:14 CDT --- Within Wine 1.5.27 now the "save as" and "save a copy" work properly. But when one attempts to overwrite a file it crashes after updating it. Same behaviour with simple "save". SO actually it saves the files, but when tries to overwrite another file, it crashes.

the same process works with 64bit wine and 64bit version of PDF-XChange installed
so the issue (mine) is still there
seems like at least 2-3 different issues exist
