--- Comment #6 from cruiseoveride cruiseoveride@gmail.com 2008-08-16 01:22:46 --- Yes sorry, I had my old fedora installed ~/.wine folder left over. I removed it completely and the fedora wine, and made sure i was only using my git version.
The error is slightly different now, the game loads, gets to the menu, but the game has serious graphical corruption. So bad you cannot see anything actually, Only way you know it hasnt crashed is because of the sound, and by moving the mouse a few flickering objects appear on the screen
This message is seen repeated on the console continously.

I think its by the same company too. And the wine bugzilla is really cluttered with too many options, its difficult to see what you're doing at 3am.
This bug (Vegas2) is still persistent with the same error posted in Description. Tested with a clean installation. See my log : http://pastebin.com/f216b6fb6

--- Comment #11 from cruiseoveride cruiseoveride@gmail.com 2009-07-21 16:07:53 --- I deleted the old WINEPREFIX and installed the game fresh with wine-1.1.26
The installation freezes while installing directX. So I force kill the setup.exe
I get errors about missing dlls and so I install the MS Visual C++ Runtime 2005 SP1 and then the game launches.
When the game launches it complains that the CD is not in the drive.
So I copy over a NO-CD exe and run that. The game launches but freezes on the splash screen. The error on the console seems to be coming from the game engine. But my PC locked up so I couldn't copy it. I needed to hard reset my machine.
Using different hardware this time. Ubuntu 9.04 x86_64 HD4870 + catalyst 9.6

long time, no answer. Some issues result from broken WINEPREFIX. Copy protection (SafeDisc 4.x) should work. Reopen if the problem still persists with _recent_ Wine.

Installer finishes copying files and shows a system hardware summary screen but does not finish on its own. Has to be killed. See attached log with comments for more details.
Copied over no-cd crack and ran exe. Splash screen appears. Then crashes.

Hello,
well I bought the game for a few bucks - only to find out that the installer works perfectly (Ubuntu 10.10, 32 bit). I attached a screenshot for proof.
The screenshot you attached shows that your nvidia 7600 GT graphics card is reported with shader model 2 instead of 3? Do you really have all 32 bit dependencies properly installed? Additionally your system gets 3 CPUs reported instead of 4? Something isn't right with your (64 bits) system ...
The installer itself:
You have to dismiss the hardware dialog with "ok" button first, it won't terminate automagically. Behind that dialog is the Installshield dialog hidden with "finish" button. See attached screenshot, I moved the dialog from behind.
If both dialogs are dismissed it might take a few seconds until PunkBuster service terminates (after setup.exe). Again: everything terminates properly.

--- Comment #19 from cruiseoveride cruiseoveride@gmail.com 2011-06-20 17:34:49 CDT --- My system is an Phenom X3. It does only have 3 cores.
I can click OK the summary screen. But thats it. The splash screen remains and I don't see the Finish dialogue box.
I'm using the desktop mode. How do you view the hidden Finish dialogue box in desktop mode?
All the processes shown in my previous log do not terminate. At least not within 30mins.

Oh, I well didn't think about this ;-) But the shader model version seems incorrect for your graphics card. You can run the "Detection.exe" tool afterwards manually from command line (its in same folder as the game binary).
--- quote --- I can click OK the summary screen. But thats it. The splash screen remains and I don't see the Finish dialogue box.

Well I didn't use desktop emulation. Can you try this again without?
--- quote --- All the processes shown in my previous log do not terminate. At least not within 30mins. --- quote ---
Of course - if the install dialog is not dismissed nothing will happen.

Why would these create links processes need to wait for the Finish dialogue before they complete?

So then there is definitely a problem with using desktop mode.

--- Comment #23 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2011-06-24 01:29:47 CDT --- Hello,
I retested again and in virtual desktop mode (1024x768) - everything works perfectly (Ubunutu 10.10, 32 bits).
You dismiss the hardware dialog "ok" and the installer finish dialog is not seen?
--- quote --- I even see the PunkBustr installation and everything. --- quote ---
Also in virtual desktop mode the PunkBuster installation dialog can be seen (foreground).
So your Linux distro/Window manager might be broken ... Are you still using this spec:
--- quote --- Ubuntu 9.04 x86_64 HD4870 + catalyst 9.6 --- quote ---
Really, I don't see the need to use virtual desktop emulation for the installer/game at all.
--- quote --- Why would these create links processes need to wait for the Finish dialogue before they complete? --- quote ---
Because it's by design. There is nothing wrong with this.

--- Comment #24 from cruiseoveride cruiseoveride@gmail.com 2011-06-24 07:47:09 CDT --- My system is Ubuntu 10.10 64bit with an Nvidia 7600GS and the proprietary Nvidia drivers. Its a stock setup.
The only thing I built myself is wine, wine-1.3.22-203-gac90c1b
--- quote --- You dismiss the hardware dialog "ok" and the installer finish dialog is not seen? --- quote ---
Correct. Once I click away the hardware summary screen, there is no more activity. The installation background remains, but will stay there for a week and continue using up memory.
--- quote --- Also in virtual desktop mode the PunkBuster installation dialog can be seen (foreground). --- quote ---
Nope. Not for me. After I click away the hardware summary screen, there is no more activity. I only see the installer background image.
Also, should I open another bug for the game not running?
