The latest version of Soldat (1.4.2) runs very slow compared to older versions. Different things are being spit out by the terminal, which I assume lead to these problems:

Both the blitting surface (0.9.40ish) and that Vertex Buffer (only seen it with 0.9.43) are new to me.

--- Comment #1 from Michael baby.lueshi@gmail.com 2007-08-26 09:38:03 --- I've noticed this as well. From what I can gather, the problem is with the font rendering, and the more text on the screen, the more the game lags. I've also noticed this also happens in at least one other app (SimCopter).
Some people on the Soldat forums have suggested changing the fonts used, which you can do by manually editing <Soldat installation folder>/Txt/font.ini and the Font1 and Font2 fields to a bitmap font instead of a truetype or xft font. However, the bitmap fonts are usually harder to read, and this is only a temporary fix.

Soldat runs smooth as butter on my machine, added 10 bots and still runs great. It does spit out a few of - err:d3d_surface:surface_prepare_system_memory Surface without memory or pbo has SFLAG_INSYSMEM set! but that's about it. I'd say this is fixed.
