Bug ID: 46584 Summary: Can't use two mice at once for separate inputs in Ricochet Infinity Product: Wine Version: 4.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: spleefer90@gmail.com Distribution: ---
This game has a really fun feature - it let's you use two mice (mouse+touchpad also works) as two separate player inputs. This does not work in WINE, every input seems to count as player 1.
Here's a picture from Windows in case you're still baffled - https://i.imgur.com/BoZSSI1.jpg
The game has been discontinued for 8+ years, so if you have trouble finding it for testing, here's a trial .exe that lets you test for 60 minutes - https://cloud2.rys.pw/s/HtzoGHwCsK5xFjg
Using KDE as a DE.
I was told this is an upstream issue with all the other software, and either progress has to be made there or WINE has to grab input(optionally?) from /dev directly.

--- Comment #1 from C0rn3j spleefer90@gmail.com --- And since this bugtracker seems to crash on certain unicode characters, here's try #2 with the comments:
Tobias: For xorg its freedesktop itself, for wayland its the respective rendering engines, including wine upstream. You'd need to ping wine, mutter (gnome wayland), xorg, kdes painter, sway and more. All would need to agree on a per-mice standard that isnt xorg multiseat (which is a thing). https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/xorg_multiseat
Or just ask wine to add the option to modify udev rules and natively grab mouse events from /dev.

--- Comment #2 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- Is this still an issue in Wine 9.9 or later?

--- Comment #3 from C0rn3j spleefer90@gmail.com --- I don't think anything related to multiple tagged USB peripherals got implemented in X or Wayland compositors in the first place, much less in WINE, so I'm going to go out on a leg and say yes.
