You need to cd to the program's directory. (In reply to comment #1 and #2)
It's obviously a way to bypass the problem, but as it works with previous versions on the same machine, there is a problem which can be due to K-Meleon or wine.
Perhaps due to MS runtime or fakes ?
But I think that to close/invalid is an curious way to solve problems. It would be nicer to help to solve the problem.
A+

It looks like a bug in the application itself. Feel free to reopen after testing under Windows (if it doesn't crash there).

--- Comment #5 from Alain Aupeix jujuland.46@wanadoo.fr 2011-04-08 10:37:04 CDT --- K-Meleon 1.70a2 doesn't crash under Windows.
Test can't be the same under wine, and I say again, this way to start isn't usable under under Windows, all other versions (1.5.4, 1.6.0b2) work under Ubuntu and 1.7.0 work if I launch it from within the folder.
So, I really think of wine or perhaps ms runtime dll / fake dll ...
I, if someone explain how to do, can report wine debug traces.

How did you test it under Windows?

--- Comment #7 from Alain Aupeix jujuland.46@wanadoo.fr 2011-04-08 12:26:44 CDT --- Just unzipping it in a folder and making a shortcut to launch it.
I just have the idea that windows add K-Meleon folder in the shortcut that just equals to a cd command.
Removing it, crashes also with another message concerning xpcom initialization.
So, now yes I'm sure that it's a K-Meleon bug.
Sorry
