Bug #: 33088 Summary: OSLO EDU 6.6 installer crashes Product: Wine Version: 1.4.1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: florin@andrei.myip.org Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 43753 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=43753 backtrace
I was trying to install OSLO EDU 6.6
Download page:
http://www.lambdares.com/education/oslo_edu
About OSLO:
I am running wine-1.4.1 on Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit, on a Dell laptop.
OSLO EDU requires Notepad++, so I installed npp-6.3 before attempting to install OSLO.
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.3.html
Towards the end of the OSLO installation process, the installer bombed out with an error. I have a backtrace file which I will try to attach to this bug report.
Please let me know if there's anything I could fix to allow the installer to complete.
This is the text on the standard output during installation:
$ wine OSLO66_EDU_Installer.exe fixme:storage:create_storagefile Storage share mode not implemented. fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation 0x2c4000 0 0x23fce0 4 err:rpc:I_RpcReceive we got fault packet with status 0x3e6 fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfde94,0x7e80a040,0xbfe1dc): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfde94,0x7e80a06a,0xbfe0c0): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfde94,0x7e80a06e,0xbfe0e0): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfde94,0x7e80a092,0xbfe1dc): stub err:rpc:I_RpcReceive we got fault packet with status 0x3e6 fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfde94,0x7e80a040,0xbfe1dc): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfde94,0x7e80a06a,0xbfe0c0): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfde94,0x7e80a06e,0xbfe0e0): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfde94,0x7e80a092,0xbfe1dc): stub p11-kit: couldn't load module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory err:rpc:I_RpcReceive we got fault packet with status 0x3e6 fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfcae4,0x7e80a040,0xbfce2c): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfcae4,0x7e80a06a,0xbfcd10): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfcae4,0x7e80a06e,0xbfcd30): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfcae4,0x7e80a092,0xbfce2c): stub fixme:ole:ITypeInfo_fnGetRefTypeInfo Can't find pRefType for ref ffffffff fixme:ole:ITypeInfo_fnGetRefTypeInfo Can't find pRefType for ref ffffffff err:rpc:I_RpcReceive we got fault packet with status 0x3e6 fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfc8dc,0x7e80a040,0xbfcc24): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfc8dc,0x7e80a06a,0xbfcb08): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfc8dc,0x7e80a06e,0xbfcb28): stub fixme:ole:NdrClearOutParameters (0xbfc8dc,0x7e80a092,0xbfcc24): stub err:ole:StdMarshalImpl_ReleaseMarshalData could not map object ID to stub manager, oxid=3700000038, oid=2 err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData IMarshal::ReleaseMarshalData failed with error 0x8001011d wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000007 at address 0x7f0d20d22886 (thread 0038), starting debugger... --- Comment #1 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2013-03-01 13:10:04 CST --- Same backtrace from bug 33082. It does not crash in wine 1.5.24, please update and try again.

--- Comment #3 from Florin Andrei florin@andrei.myip.org 2013-03-01 17:41:28 CST --- I updated to 1.5.24
On first installation, the crash did occur once (see attached backtrace2), but the installed completed its job. I was able to run the software after that without any crash.
I uninstalled it, then the crash started to happen randomly (or not happen at all) during install and/or uninstall. I can't run the software at all now, it crashes every single time. :(

--- Comment #4 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2013-03-01 17:47:23 CST --- Try again in a clean prefix. You can read more about using different prefixes in the FAQ: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#wineprefix

--- Comment #6 from Florin Andrei florin@andrei.myip.org 2013-03-01 18:12:01 CST --- I deleted the .wine directory and started over.
The crash occurred once more during installation - see backtrace4. But the installer completed successfully.
Now the software appears to run well.
Thank you.
