Hi, Im unable to install Mafia on a fully updated Ubuntu Intrepid system.
uname -a Linux waffe 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:24:39 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
wine --version wine-1.1.17
extracts from glxinfo direct rendering: Yes server glx vendor string: SGI server glx version string: 1.2 OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc. OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 OpenGL version string: 2.1.8087 Release OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20
I installed vcrun6 with winetricks and still no go. Also tried after installing the mfc40 and mfc42 packages and still no go. Also tried adding them in the wineconfig program also without success. Wine as such does work, World of Warcraft runs wonderfully! See attachment for crash details

That's fine, now you need to install a missing mfc42.dll

It's possible that this was working in an earlier version of Wine, I think I remember it working but nolonger have the install cd.
You could try testing with some older versions, and if you find one that works (I'd try 0.9.57 first) then you can follow the Regression Testing instructions http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

I already fixed it, it was just to let you know for next time.
You're hitting a kernel bug, it was fixed in wine a day or two after that. See: http://wiki.winehq.org/ReverseRegressionTesting for help.

--- Comment #17 from dre andreas.kaim@gmail.com 2009-04-01 15:18:22 --- Hi, im really battling with the reverse regression testing. I am able to find a version that compiles although i have no idea what that version is!
in /home/dre/winetest/wine-git my ls gives
aclocal.m4 configure.ac fonts LICENSE.OLD programs VERSION ANNOUNCE COPYING.LIB include loader README AUTHORS dlls libs Makefile.in server configure documentation LICENSE Make.rules.in tools
ie: no wine to run! Ive read through a few guides and asked on irc but everyone just says "it should be there".
any ideas?

You need to compile it with: $ ./configure && make depend && make
Is this still an issue in current (1.1.30 or newer) wine?
