I found a solution that works on my system, which prevents NFSMW from crashing although the sound issue remains.
It seems that even under windows NFSMW seems to have issues running on multi-core systems. Setting the processor affinity to one core fixes the crashes.
I use :taskset -c 0 wine speed.exe
Your solution is not working for me, NFS MW crashed same as without taskset. I think this is wine problem, because on same system with cedega NFS MW and NFS Carbon works without problems.
