Bug ID: 38231 Summary: Adobe Lightroom 4.4 and 5.7 - Unable to display all images in library mode Product: Wine Version: 1.7.38 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: user32 Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: roland65@free.fr Distribution: ---
Adobe Lightroom 4.4 (LR) works well with wine 1.7.38 in Windows 7 mode and the usual 'winetricks gdiplus'. LR 5.7 works well too, using the CreateThreadPool patch.
Anyway there are important issues in library mode:
- in LR 4.4 and 5.7, the film strip only displays a maximum of 455 images - in LR 5.7 only the grid only displays a maximum of 655 images

--- Comment #1 from Teras teras@luukku.com --- I quess you should provide some console output when you are trying to import images.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38231
--- Comment #2 from Roland Baudin roland65@free.fr --- The problem is not when importing images: all images are correctly imported. It's only when displaying images in the library.
For example, suppose that in LR 5 I import 800 images coming from two directories 'test1' and 'test2', both subdirs of a directory 'test', with 400 images in test1 and 400 images in test2.
In each directory, the 400 images are correctly imported and displayed in library and film strip. This can be seen by pointing on each directory in the left pane of LR.
Then, if I point on the parent dir 'test', I only see 655 images in the library and 455 in the filmstrip. The other images are there in the catalog, but not displayed.

--- Comment #3 from Teras teras@luukku.com --- Still there should be some console output. Cant really fix anything if there is no indicating factor what's wrong or where it's wrong.

Here is the console output. For me, there is nothing special within it...

--- Comment #6 from martin.klapetek@gmail.com --- I can confirm this issue is still present with Lightroom 5.7.1 and Wine 1.7.51.
It looks like the scrollbar bar is not being shrinked past certain size (when you keep adding more images), which leads to the scrollbar reaching its end while it's actually not the end of the view. Mouse scrolling doesn't work either, I guess it's related (blocked by the scrollbar, perhaps).
One workaround is to set smaller previews, then more fits in, but it's a less-than-ideal workaround at best.

--- Comment #7 from Roland Baudin roland65@free.fr --- The bug is still present in Adobe 5.7.1 with wine 1.8.6 or 2.0-rc4.

--- Comment #8 from Kees Beets kbeets68@gmail.com --- I've fixed this locally and submitted a patch request here, https://source.winehq.org/patches/ (id: 131022). It's my first submission of a wine code patch so let's see how it goes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38231
--- Comment #9 from Roland Baudin roland65@free.fr --- I tested your patch with wine 2.0 and Lightroom 5.7.1 and this fixes the bug. Now I can display more than 16000 images in the library and in the film strip. I see no other related issue.
I hope the patch could be added to the official branch. Thanks a lot!

Patch applies against wine 2.6-git just few offset changes. Were there any feedback on the patch?
This bug should contain patch keyword now and maybe set the component as user32.
That would give better results when searching bugs.

--- Comment #12 from Tomáš Bžatek bugs@bzatek.net --- Still a problem with Lightroom 9.1 and wine-5.0_rc3. The patch fixes the issue, however this is the only Win app I use regularly and have no idea about possible regressions elsewhere.
Can somebody please change the bug status away from UNCONFIRMED?

Your comment make me think you managed to run Lightroom 9.1 in wine 5.0...
I tested Lightroom 6.x (64 bits) in wine 4.0.x last year, with no success . So I'm a bit curious: did you apply some specific patch or native dll installation?
Does Lightroom 9.1 run well?
I managed yesterday to compile a WoW64 wine 5.0-rc4 in an Ubuntu 19.10 box, but I was not able to even install Lightroom 8.3.1.
Sorry for the trouble in this bug report, but I didn't know how to contact you...

--- Comment #15 from Tomáš Bžatek bugs@bzatek.net --- Hi Roland, sorry, had misconfigured SMTP server for my e-mail and didn't notice that.
Yes, I plan to post some update on WineHQ. Now that bug 46972 has been fixed in wine-5.0-rc5 the only dll that needs to be disabled is ninput.dll.
