Summary: Regression in 1.1.12 - Visual FoxPro List View control renders no text Product: Wine Version: 1.1.12 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jtk@yahoo.com
A regression between 1.1.12~winehq0~ubuntu~8.10-0ubuntu1 and 1.1.11~winehq0~ubuntu~8.10-0ubuntu1 caused a Visual FoxPro application (CortexEDI specifically) to incorrectly draw a list view.
The list view did not render text data in none of its rows. Because of a peculiarity of this application, the number of rows always fill the fixed height of the control, so I can't confirm whether the list has no rows, or all empty rows.
Downgrading wine from 1.1.12~winehq0~ubuntu~8.10-0ubuntu1 to 1.1.11~winehq0~ubuntu~8.10-0ubuntu1 fixed the problem.
Specific application library information (any DLLs in the program directory, etc.) available on request, just let me know what would help identify the regression.

--- Comment #1 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2009-01-08 08:58:40 --- Does 'winetricks comctl32' work around it? (Knowing this will tell us for sure it's a comctl32 bug.)
Can you send us a test app? Or can you try doing a regression search for the patch that broke it? http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

--- Comment #2 from Jeff Kowalczyk jtk@yahoo.com 2009-04-03 17:38:59 --- Updating title, the application in question is a Delphi application, not Visual Foxpro.
Data point: updates to the application and subsequent revisions of Wine after 1.1.12 still exhibit the bug. I am gearing up to re-test the 'winetricks comctl32' method and repeat an initial experiment with git bisect all revisions between 1.1.10 and 1,1,12, neither of which isolated the bug previously.
Thanks.

Hi, Jeff. Just get up-to-date wine from git, test with clean prefix, if problems is still here try 'winetricks cc580'. No need to bisect with native comctl32 installed.
Is this application available for download somewhere?

--- Comment #4 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com 2009-11-29 07:02:11 --- Jeff, it's another reminder for you. Please retest with 1.1.33 or provide a test application.

--- Comment #5 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com 2010-05-29 06:30:08 --- Jeff, it's been 10 months without a reply. What is a current state of this bug running 1.2-rc2. Please provide minimal application source that shows that problem if it isn't fixed yet.

--- Comment #6 from Jeff Kowalczyk jtk@yahoo.com 2010-06-03 18:58:46 --- My sincere apologies for the lack of updates. The client work associated with the original bug report has ended, so although I can run the program in question, I lack authorization to run the submit data step which exhibits the problem.
I will see if a test account can be established with the software vendor.
If there is a lesser status this bug can enter until such time as I have a way to generate additional data, it would be greatly appreciated.
Overall, this vendor's application (CortexEDI EBill) is a) important as a convenient and capable medical claims submission app, b) runs nearly perfectly under WINE, at least until the aforementioned change in network communication library, and c) a good candidate for running on linux as a secure single or multi-workstation for HIPAA-protected information.

--- Comment #7 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com 2010-06-03 19:08:24 --- This won't be closed if you'll able to provide some test data in a near future, we could wait another year, don't worry :).
The questions so far are: - does a native comctl32 fix a problem; - is there a way to get a minimal source to reproduce a problem (if you're able to contact developer for example).
Anyway first try a current dev release 1.2-rc2. There's a lot Listview fixes since 1.1.12.
