You don't have this bug even in Dragon Age Origin (1) ? What are your Direct3D options ? Are they default or did you change them ? With default settings, I still have this bug

Although not entirely clear because of the darkness of the menu, what I see is a black image with a sun in the middle and 4 ornaments around it. My understanding of the bug is that before, the preview was a black rectangle with nothing in it. Because I see a clear image, I assumed that this was fixed. If we are supposed to see a screenshot in game, then yes this bug is not fixed.

If this is really the issue don't expect this to be fixed anytime soon. For legal reasons they cant add the support in wine.

I'm not really familiar with git commands, what should I use ? I tried git clone followed by the address but it doesn't work...
I didn't see anything in the web interface that make you able to save the file somewhere...
Also trying to open files manually show things like
"From fe8ff690267d0e3dbc4d7731dce1276bee2f037e Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: =?UTF-8?q?Michael=20M=C3=BCller?= michael@fds-team.de Date: Sat, 20 Sep 2014 02:48:07 +0200 Subject: wined3d: Add support for DXTn software decoding through libtxc_dxtn."
No idea what part should be copied or not in the patch...

The proper way is to download the patchset (either manually downloading all files or checking out the staging git repo).
$ git clone https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging.git
Afterwards the patches can be applied on your wine source tree. There are various FAQs and documentations how to build a patched version of Wine, see for example: * http://wiki.winehq.org/Patching * https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging/wiki/Packaging#compiling-wine...
Nevertheless this is a bit off-topic on this bug tracker, so please refer to the #winehq IRC channel or the forums if you need additional help with patching/compiling your wine version.
For wine-staging we are also providing precompiled binaries for various distributions, if you're using one of them you can also test using our packages. Please note that it will install to a different location than regular wine, so you will always have to type the full path. See: * http://www.wine-staging.com/install.html * https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging/wiki/Usage

I tried the patches with Dragon Age: Origins. The preview for the saved games is still not displayed correctly, but it's not completely black as before: the screenshot from comment #11 shows what it looks like now. This line appears in the terminal when a saved game is created:

--- Comment #22 from Someone scrimekiler@yahoo.fr --- Sorry about that, I didn't have a clean wineprefix and it seems it was 64 bits.
With a fresh 32 bits Wineprefix, I see a logo instead of a black preview if I make a new savegame with both wine and wine-staging. But it still doesn't show a screen capture of the game.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26898
--- Comment #23 from Someone scrimekiler@yahoo.fr --- When the logo is displayed, there is no DDS file in the savegame directory.
When there is a black preview, there is actually a DDS file, which is black when opened with an image viewer.

--- Comment #24 from Someone scrimekiler@yahoo.fr --- This bug is fixed with current wine-staging git release for Dragon Age Origins, but only if d3dx9_36 override is added.
However it seems not fixed for Dragon Age 2.
