Bug ID: 37517 Summary: VideoReDo TVSuite H.264 crashes on loading video when using VMR9 Product: Wine Version: 1.7.30 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: quartz Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: gordon.lack@dsl.pipex.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 49929 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=49929 backtrace saved from crash
VideoReDo TVSuite H.264 (http://www.videoredo.com/en/ProductTVS.htm) starts up OK.
Under Tools/Options/Playback Devices you can select VMR9 as the Video Driver (FYI: DirectX is also listed there, but it isn't supported any more, and actually used VMR7 as well - the option is going away). This determines the driver used when running the editing page.
If you now load a video (mpeg, or h.264) into the program it will crash.

--- Comment #1 from Gordon Lack gordon.lack@dsl.pipex.com --- NOTE: that trying to use VMR7 as the driver also fails, but differently (it just fails to load the video, which is equally unproductive).

--- Comment #4 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com --- The application refuses to load mpeg files I have here and also tried some random from http://home.in.tum.de/~paula/mpeg/ The error is: Unable to open file.
Can you provide a link to a (small/sample) video that makes it crash?

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37517
--- Comment #10 from carpprotractor@yahoo.co.uk --- Confirming this problem still exists in the latest version of VideoReDo TV Suite (VRDTVSH264-5-3-80-758b).
If VMR7 or VMR9 is used, you get an error "Unable to initialise the video display", and the following is in the VideoRedo log:
"2017-11-07 09:57:58 Using display driver: VMR9 2017-11-07 09:57:58 Error initializing video: Error, no VMR filters found., Overlay Flag: 0, Accel Flag: 1 2017-11-07 09:57:58 Unable to play video: Unable to initialize the video display."
If you try EVR, VideoReDo Crashes (see backtrace).

--- Comment #11 from carpprotractor@yahoo.co.uk --- While not a fix for Version 4 or 5, DRD Systems have released a version 6 beta that now has D3D11 as an option for rendering and I've had some success with this version. There's a thread on the VRD forums for linux users - https://videoredo.net/msgBoard/index.php?threads/tvsuite-v6-beta-works-on-li...

--- Comment #12 from Gijs Vermeulen gijsvrm@gmail.com --- Still present with wine-9.0rc1.
VMR7, VMR9 & EVR all fail to load. DirectX at least opens the file and is able to play it. Audio works, but it still displays a black screen where it should be playing the video.
Adding stable download link.
