Please try again in the latest development version of wine (currently 1.5.17)
and get a new log.

Also CD to the directory first before launching the .exe

New attempt with wine 1.5.17 log from installer

I followed your instructions. I finally figured out the proper syntax for
getting WINEARCH to work after trying just about ever combination you can think
of! I hope winehq makes that more clear so others don't get major difficulties
trying to figure out how its supposed to work. I made a new WINEPRIFIX=win32
and tried installing again with win 1.5.17. I used wintricks ie8 and ie8 did
not complain about 64bits so, i think i finally got the arch thing figured out.
 The installer made a log file so i attached that so you can see what the
installer is trying to get win to do. I skimmed through it and noticed it uses
Panda Media Booster. Dose wine still have trouble with that? PWE makes a lot of
games and apparently they have gone to using that down-loader for all there
games. I played Star Trek Online and Champions online so the down-loader works
at least partially with wine.

So it stopped crashing? Did you try in a clean prefix before installing ie8? If
not please try again, it's important to test without any winetricks stuff and
check if the original stack overflow does not happen after update.

Bug 22152 talks about wine not being able to run pando-based installers.

Crash! See attachment. It also crashed with IE8.  It just got a little
furtherer.

GC_DONT_GC=1 wine as per bug 22152 got me further.  Panda Media Booster is now
running. I'll post when and if it finishes.  Maybe this should be marked as a
duplicate of bug 2215.

I got all the way to the patcher patching then it said the file had been
corrupted by a virus.  I suspect I just need to use wintricks or something.
