Summary: Adobe Acrobat 5.0 shuts down after splash screen Product: Wine Version: 0.9.44. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-loader AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ketil.w.aanensen@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=8052) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=8052) log from start by: $ env WINEPREFIX...
I start Adobe Acrobat with:
wine .wine/drive_c/Programfiler/Adobe/Acrobat\ 5.0/Acrobat/Acrobat.exe
and
env WINEPREFIX="/home/ketil/.wine" wine "C:\Programfiler\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe"
The splash screen shows, and then it shuts down. This used to work great a few versions ago. Using 9.44 on Ubuntu Feisty. winehq-repos.
Output from launch "env WINEPREFIX..." attached

--- Comment #3 from Ketil Wendelbo Aanensen ketil.w.aanensen@gmail.com 2007-09-13 14:31:49 --- I've tried with both the default feisty version of Wine, and the backported 0.9.41, and I see it does not currently work in those versions either. There may have been a problem with the install process. Has the install process been changed the last couple of months, that may have changed this? (I had my .wine directory deleted some months ago.)
A regression test seems to be useless, as it doesn't work in any of these Wine versions.
If there could be an install issue, how do I completely remove Acrobat, and try to reinstall it through the different version?

--- Comment #4 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2007-09-13 15:10:57 --- I can't reproduce your problem with today's git, a clean .wine directory, and a fresh install of acrobat 5.
Please try with a fresh install of Acrobat 5 in a fresh .wine directory.

--- Comment #5 from Ketil Wendelbo Aanensen ketil.w.aanensen@gmail.com 2007-09-13 15:19:41 --- OK. Tried with a clean install on an empty .wine Now it works... Wine 0.9.44
So, close this bug. But please, if anyone has an idea, help me resolve what I've done wrong.
Used Wine-doors to install crucial stuff, but I've installed Acrobat since that time, and had it work. Other wine apps work fine, like InDesign 2.0.
Sorry for troubling you all!

--- Comment #6 from Ketil Wendelbo Aanensen ketil.w.aanensen@gmail.com 2007-09-13 15:55:36 --- I believe this to be a bug caused by wine-doors. Posted a bug report for that: http://www.wine-doors.org/trac/ticket/550
Again, sorry to bother you!

--- Comment #8 from Ketil Wendelbo Aanensen ketil.w.aanensen@gmail.com 2007-09-14 03:46:38 --- Well, "crucial" might be a serious word :)
I like installing iexplore and the basic Wine-environment by use of Wine-doors. That way I feel I have more control.

--- Comment #9 from Vincent Povirk madewokherd@gmail.com 2007-09-14 08:20:19 --- I'm posting here because I can't reply to tickets at the wine-doors place (only file new ones).
Installing iexplore6 overrides a lot of dll's that Wine provides with the native Windows version. This is probably the cause of your problem. If so, wine-doors isn't really at fault, but it'd be nice if it created a new bottle for MSIE because it's likely to cause problems.
