It's the terminal output, but there's not a backtrace.

Jacek just sent an updated wine-gecko engine/patch that was supposed to fix some regressions. You might try that: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2009-February/072770.html
Otherwise, 'winetricks ie6' may work around it.

--- Comment #6 from Robod winehq@robod.net 2009-02-15 20:02:59 --- Hi there,
It seems that I've managed to make some progress with the testing. Here is what to do to repeat my results. X window has to run with 16bit depth. Compiz/Fusion has to be disabled. Wonderland has to be started from it's installation directory.
The result is, loads of errors on stdout/err, but the game starts. It's not playable due to problems with the graphics, but it runs.
I've downloaded Gecko 0.9.1 and unpacked it into ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/gecko/0.9.1. I also have 0.9.0 and 0.1.0 in there. I've also copied the .cab file to /usr/share/wine/gecko, however I'm not sure which gecko is actually used and whether it makes any difference whatsoever :-).
As the output is very long and I've included some screengrabs, I've included all the details in the attached files. One is Abiword, one is Openoffice and one is PDF document, so hopefully people will be able to open at least one correctly.
Hope this helps...
Rob

Is this still an issue in current (1.1.29 or newer) wine?
Hi there,
I've tried .29 and .30. Both seem to behave in the same way. There is some improvement comparing to <=.28, but some things stopped working :-(.
The improvement is that the announcement page is now showing nicely rendered HTML as on Windows. The window tries to maximize itself, but only the top bar is maximized, the actual content is only about 1/4 of the screen. However this is only a cosmetic issue.
Unfortunately after that things are worse. There are two different behaviours. Not sure why. Both happen when the final game window starts loading. The image is still split into 3 separate colors next to each other like before, but.
In the first instance Wine crashes and generates backtrace (attached). Then hangs and the only thing that can be done is to kill it.
When started again, it doesn't crash, but hangs and starts generating loads of messages: err:wave:wodPlayer_WriteMaxFrags Error in writing wavehdr. Reason: Resource temporarily unavailable
The music still keeps playing on the background, though ...
Hope this helps.

--- Comment #15 from jarrod.b.johnson+winebugs@gmail.com 2009-11-02 17:36:20 --- I will add I see the same problems. I can get around the 'three color' behavior by selecting 'Windows 98' as the target environment, but I still get stopped by the same 0x000038ac page fault the attached trace references. I don't know if wine treats the same color format differently or if the application specifies a different format for 98 instead of XP.
My system is Ubuntu 9.10 x64, running wine 1.1.31 and Wonderland 4.x (whatever they call the current wonderland).
This is the last application keeping the family system running Windows, I'd love to see this fixed.
