With 1.0-rc3 I cannot get vba to come up at all due to the unimplemented transacted storage mode, so I cannot test it.
Installing DCOM98 (and RICHED20 and RICHED32) VBA starts working again and doesn't present the parhentesis bug. RC4, fresh install, ubuntu hardy 64 bit

maybe it's a .net issue?

In bug 23726, native riched20 fixes the problem as well.
