Summary: Unity Web Player 2.1.0 doesn't show graphics in browser Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: Other URL: http://unity3d.com/unity-web-player-2.x.html OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jeffzaroyko@gmail.com
Unity Web Player is a browser plugin for Firefox for running rich 3d applications.
After installing Firefox 3 then installing the Unity Web Player, visiting http://unity3d.com/gallery/live-demos/tropical-paradise loads a demo (you can hear the audio, birds chirping) where you're supposed to see and navigate a 3d tropical paradise.
The graphics are not drawn in the display area of the page.
Right clicking on where the graphics are supposed to be gives an option for fullscreen, which appears to work sometimes.
wine-1.1.5-207-gc425c8a, NVIDIA 8800, 177.13.

--- Comment #3 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2009-03-03 02:02:16 --- Wine 1.1.16, in the island demo -- clicking fullscreen on where the windowed/embedded unity player should be on the web page takes the demo to fullscreen, all appears good, except it seems that the wrong window has focus for input?
After doing an alt-tab to the Firefox window, the demo is controllable, I can walk around etc, but the viewport for the game is not part of the Firefox window as it should be.

--- Comment #4 from frsiglmu@web.de 2009-03-05 12:41:00 --- I'm having the same problem with this game: http://bionicle.lego.com/en-us/games/glatorianarena.aspx I can hear sounds, but I can't see anything. I can't try your workaround, since "Go Fullscreen" is grayed out in that game.

--- Comment #5 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2010-04-21 19:54:54 --- wine-1.1.43-191-g7614656 still present.
The one fixme that does seem to display every time something is supposed to happen, ie when a game or program loads but the area of the screen doesn't redraw, is:
err:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_Reset Cannot change the device window yet.

--- Comment #6 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2010-06-19 22:34:57 --- Tested with 1.2-rc4.
I've noticed that the installer fails to complete, at about 90% without any indication of why, but the web player still seems to work more or less the same. I can't remember if this was always the case though.
wine iexplore unity3d.com/gallery/live-demos/tropical-paradise.html
The island demo loads, right click and select fullscreen, alt-tab back to our iexplore window and the island demo rendered behind receives input from mouse and keyboard.

For wine 1.3.23 Unity Web Player still doesn't show graphics in browser. I've made test using opera 11.50. In juggergame.com go to backpack and click show 3d, after while will be area which will not be redrawn. When you begin fight then seems that is reaction on clicking on area which is not redraw or using keyboard.
This error appears twice: err:ole:CoInitializeEx Attempt to change threading model of this apartment from apartment threaded to multi-threaded
In attachment more logs.

--- Comment #9 from Yanis Lux Pendrokar@gmail.com --- While this info will not help fixing the bug, as this concerns Window's versions of web browsers, rather provide a workaround. Pipelight added support for Unity Web Player, therefore it can be used on native Linux web browsers. Pipelight still uses Wine to achieve this. See the Pipelight project on how to install the player.

Hello folks,
I can't reproduce this, the game works fine here with name pipe message mode patchset applied (bug 17273).
Since this bug was about in-browser graphics, resolving 'fixed'. Attaching screenshot for proof.
