Jesse, you're right, it was wrong for the 24 bit case, I resubmitted it to wine-patches and added a fixed patch here.
Willie, it always looked right no matter what the bpp - bug 1973 is completely unrelated. When I said "looked perfect", I was comparing it to the broken patch that copied the wrong number of bytes. And unless the application already prints "fixme: potential optimization - client-side DIB copy" while it's running, my patch will do absolutely nothing.
