Steam gets as far as asking if you want to take the hardware server, and then crashes. +relay shows that right before the seh: there was an assertion failure and some calls that probably referenced a font. Sure enough, doing 'sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer' worked around the problem.

In the next window, click on the 'next' button. The following window should display the 'steam subscriber agreement', but steam crash here in the same way if one of the following font is not installed :

I just made some tests : this is Times.TTF which is required.

--- Comment #9 from byteframe byteframe@gmail.com 2011-06-30 13:02:50 CDT --- I recently (1.3.22) made a new prefix, and steam ran for longer (such that it seems it/wine will fallback to tahoma if arial is not found, which is an improvement.. However, the times new roman font from corefont is still needed by the html/webkit portions of steam.

The fix must have come from one of the recent Steam client updates, not from Wine. Can anyone confirm this?
