Bug ID: 41273 Summary: Texted added to clipboard in Wine not pasting in native Linux applictions. Product: Wine Version: 1.9.18 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: dwwwine@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 55576 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=55576 Errors seen when pasting
Copying users or passwords from Password Safe running under Wine is no longer working. When I go to paste it in any native application, it fails, with no info other than what is seen in the attached file (taken from my ~/.xsession-errors). This worked until I upgraded wine to 1.9.18 today. I also built the latest version from git (same as 1.9.18 as of the time I built it) and saw the same error there. I also verified that downgrading to 1.9.17 resolves the issue.
I am on Arch Linux, and using XFCE 4.12. As part of my testing, I also re-created the wine directory for password safe, from scratch (as Windows 7, no library overrides), with the latest version of that program (3.39.1).

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- I've noticed similar results with Firefox under wine and XFCE mousepad. Copying to notepad then to mousepad seemed to work for me, but I didn't investigate that very much.
Could you run a regression test?

My guess would be that it's 42c221db6c61966486344fb65231ae35d9f4ea49. There are a number of things in the X11 clipboard support that will need to be rewritten before this can work correctly again.

--- Comment #4 from Rahul Khimasia rkhimasia@gmail.com --- Like David Wheeler I too have a similar problem with pasting into native application using Password Safe (3.39.1) under Wine (1.9.18) in Arch Linux. I then downgraded Wine to 1.9.17 which resolved the issue.

wine-patched-staging-1.9.18.tar.gz (compiled 32 bit) Scientific Linux 7.1 Smart Suite N9.8.0208.1200 Scientific Linux 7.2 x64 Xfce 4.12
This is a real pain in the neck, to put it mildly.
In Lotus Smart Suite Word Pro, as of Wine Staging 1.9.18, I can no longer copy from inside Word Pro and paste to a Linux program.
I can paste inside Word pro. I can copy in Linux and paste into Word Pro. I can copy from one running instance of Word Pro and paste to another separate instance of work pro. I can copy from Word Pro to Lotus Approach or Notepad. Then copy the same data in Approach/Notepad and paste it to Linux. I just can't copy from Word Pro and paste into Linux.
If there is text in the Linux clipboard and I copy into the clipboard in Word Pro, then paste into Linux, the paste is empty. In other words, when I copy into the clipboard in Word Pro, it erases the Linux clipboard (and doesn't add anything new to it).
When Word Pro is run from the command line and I paste into Linux's Leafpad, I get the following:
$ sh -c "cd /home/tony/.wine/drive_c/lotus/wordpro; wine ./wordpro.exe" err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData IMarshal::ReleaseMarshalData failed with error 0x8001011d

No, it's not fixed even on master.
This affects Tencent's QQ Lite too. Same error messages, and I can confirm that 42c221db6c61966486344fb65231ae35d9f4ea49 introduces the problem for me.

Confirming it is not fixed. The error I'm getting in 1.9.19 is:

--- Comment #10 from Milan Oparnica milan.opa@gmail.com --- Interesting thing. Text copied from any VISIO control (even open dialog simple text box) can not be pasted to native apps.
But if copied text is first just pasted to Wine Notepad app then it can be pasted to the native app to.
Also, text copied from Notepad can be pasted to native applications without problems.
