Summary: Attachmate KEA! starts with error, then hangs Product: Wine Version: 0.9.45. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-ole AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: posting@vodacomm.ca
Created an attachment (id=8184) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=8184) shell error output
Attachmate's KEA! VT420 emulator used to work in Wine (back in 2000 :) ). The current version of KEA! is 5.1.
It installs, and I can start it; when I choose a connection profile, it opens a terminal window and throws an error dialog box:
"OLE - error creating server class factory: error code 0x800706c0"
I can click okay, and sometimes it connects to the remote host, and sometimes not, but in all cases it freezes, so that I have to kill Wine to get out.
The shell error output is attached.

$ wget http://www.kegel.com/winetricks $ sh winetricks dcom98
fix the problem?

--- Comment #2 from Stephen Bosch posting@vodacomm.ca 2007-09-24 17:35:36 --- That depends on what you mean by "fix" :)
The OLE error dialog no longer appears, but the hang behaviour is the same as before. KEA starts; if it does not connect (because I don't pick a session), then it will runs -- until I try and connect to a host, that is. It might show the login screen, but no more. The cursor stops blinking and the menus are unresponsive.
Contrary to what I wrote before, I don't actually have to kill wine anymore; it will exit "gracefully", if by gracefully you mean rip down the process and clean up :)
The error output is more concise, and it does look like the hang is not caused by ole:
schmo@machine|16:25:45|~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Attachmate/KEA! VT$ wine keavt.exe err:mmio:MMIO_ParseExtA No . in szFileName: "KEAStart" err:mmio:MMIO_ParseExtA No . in szFileName: "KEAConnect" err:mmio:MMIO_ParseExtA No . in szFileName: "KEADisconnect" fixme:font:WineEngRemoveFontResourceEx :stub
I don't see an "mmio" component in the list of available components, though.

--- Comment #6 from Stephen Bosch posting@vodacomm.ca 2008-07-11 10:14:41 --- The machine that needed this is running Ubuntu 7.10, and I cannot locate a 0.9.60 or newer Wine package for it.
Is one available, or will I have to upgrade?
The server is a production terminal server supporting 100 users, so I'm reluctant to do an upgrade.

--- Comment #7 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-07-11 10:33:30 --- You'll have to find a test machine for this then. You can find newer debs from http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9757
--- Comment #9 from Stephen Bosch posting@vodacomm.ca 2008-07-11 11:20:16 --- I upgraded the affected machine to the 1.0.0 wine package obtained from wine.budgetdedicated.com.
The behaviour has changed, but I still cannot connect properly.
Upon connecting, I get the error:
"OLE - error creating server class factory: error code 0x80040155"
The target server login appears, but now KEA no longer accepts input. It looks frozen, only this time, if I click on the [X] to close the window, it will eventually release the connection and then I can close it, or actuate menus and toolbar buttons.
So -- a small improvement, but still unusable. I've attached the console errors.
Sorry for the delay in getting to this.
