The game works fine in 1.1.10 and after that it just dies when starting a game.
I did a bisect on 1.1.11 and got:

wined3d: Only apply shader constants that changed.
This improves performance a bit for applications that use a lot of shaders with a lot of constants.

Therefore I would consider this bug fixed, or better, I think it is invalid, since when I reported, most likely I had not tested it with 1.1.17 in a fresh login.

--- Comment #4 from Fernando Martins fernando@cmartins.nl 2009-03-26 15:27:53 --- Apologies, but after further testing I think the bug really didn't went away since I finally got a couple of crashes after fresh restart. Furthermore, in general Fable is more brittle with 1.1.17 than 1.1.10.
Finally, I compiled 1.1.17 from git and the backtrace shows Fable dying exactly at the same point as with 1.1.11.
The code requires too much dx and gl know-how for me to be able to work properly on it. Please let me know what else can I do.

The patch works against wine 1.1.18. No more crashes so far.
