I'm guessing that Wine builds for 8.10 are broken. Or made with known not to work configurations: http://wiki.winehq.org/CopyProtection

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-01-04 14:36:05 --- Could it be that GCC bug surfacing again, i.e., they're being built with different GCC versions, one good, one bad?

--- Comment #5 from Jamin Collins jcollins@asgardsrealm.net 2009-01-04 15:10:11 --- Not sure it's that simple. Installing the packages for 8.04 on my 8.10 system doesn't seem to work. The packages install fine and do operate, but Majesty still fails to start.

--- Comment #6 from Scott Ritchie scott@open-vote.org 2009-01-06 02:09:24 --- Hmm, sounds like a library bug rather than a packaging one then. I'm not sure where the error points, however.
Ubuntu 8.10 uses GCC 4.3.2 by default, by the way.

Download MSVCP60.dll and place it to .wine/drive_c/windows/system/ folder, then go to winecfg -> Libraries and add that .dll as native and it runs fine.

--- Comment #8 from Jamin Collins jcollins@asgardsrealm.net 2009-01-07 18:11:24 --- Are you certain of this? I've tested with a fresh wine prefix and adding the indicated DLL as native does NOT work here.

--- Comment #9 from Jouko Lappi am3ndment@gmail.com 2009-01-11 07:41:11 --- Ah, im under Ubuntu 8.10. I tested it with several versions of wine (1.1.3, 1.1.5, 1.1.10 and 1.1.12) and works fine with / without virtual desktop.
