Bug #: 34328 Summary: World of Tanks: Purple graphics errors Product: Wine Version: 1.7.0 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3dx9 AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: JohannesBauer@gmx.de CC: wine-bugs@winehq.org Classification: Unclassified
I'm using wine-1.7.0 which I've patched with the disable-dynamic-vertex-buffers.patch (https://github.com/Pinkbyte/pinkbyte-overlay/blob/master/app-emulation/wine/...).
When I play (no matter what graphics settings, no matter if fullscreen or windowed), I get purple bars over some text elements. It's annoying ingame because I cannot tell the difference which players are alive and which are dead anymore. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like: http://i.imgur.com/QFuwKqA.png
I'm on Gentoo LInux x86_64 with a Nvidia graphics cards and the proprietary Nvidia driver:

Is there anything I could try to get rid of this problem? Other than this it runs very nicely.

--- Comment #2 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2013-09-13 14:39:31 CDT --- Does native d3dx9_36.dll fix the issue?

--- Comment #3 from roger@mailinator.com --- Have you tried newer version of wine, gpu drivers or overriding d3dx9_36.dll

--- Comment #4 from Behem0th grantipak@gmail.com --- ~2,5 years gone since first report. Many wine, distro, WOT update since that day.
Is this bug still actual?

I'm pretty sure World of Tanks installs and mostly works on Wine. If you refer to bug 38980, that doesn't block updating the game.

--- Comment #8 from Joshua Hoblitt josh@hoblitt.com --- I have been playing WoT 9.17 (current version) under 1.9.21-staging, 1.9.23-staging, 2.0.0-rc[1356]-staging with both NVidia binary and intel open drivers on different hosts without seeing this. There have certainly been other bugs, such as not being able to cut'n'paste between wot on the xorg desktop (fixed under 2.0.0-rc4-staging). However, I think 9.17 doesn't work at all without the staging patches.

--- Comment #9 from Matteo Bruni matteo.mystral@gmail.com --- As far as I know this bug is only reproducible with Nvidia proprietary drivers and enabling CSMT in current Wine should fix it.
Resolving this bug fixed for the time being; if someone can still reproduce with current Wine and CSMT enabled, please do reopen the bug.
