Bug #: 32132 Summary: Starcraft 2 crashes on startup Product: Wine Version: 1.5.16 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: me@jepaan.dk Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 42386 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=42386 Terminal output
After updating wine from version 1.5.14 to 1.5.16, Starcraft 2 crashes on launch. The launcher works, but when the play button is pressed, a "Microsfot Visual c++ Runtime Library" error dialog appears, stating: "Runtime Error! R6034 An application has made an attempt to load C runtime library incorrectly." A Blizzard error box then appears with no technical information.
I've done a bisection on the crash, the result is attached.

Created attachment 42386 [details] Terminal output
Are you sure that's complete? There's no Wine output in there at all. Regardless, this looks like a duplicate of bug 32071.

(In reply to comment #0) Confirming this bug. I'm using wine 1.5.23. The launcher works ok, but after it (about 45-60 sec.) it crashes. Here the screenshot.

--- Comment #9 from Raza debianuser4@gmail.com 2013-02-17 22:09:43 CST --- Hey guys, great news! I got it working. What I did was open winetricks and went to install dll and did remove everything option at the bottom. (make sure to move SC2 install out of your .wine folder if it's there before you do it because it'll literally remove anything in that folder. After that I opened up winetricks and installed vc2005 and 2008 (nothing else) and ran SC2 again and it worked.

Select the default wine prefix -> Delete all data and applications inside
If a clean WINEPREFIX fixes the issue, it's invalid.

Dear Raza, I followed, what You recommended: 1 - I cleared the PREFIX; 2 - I copied files back. So - then launcher runs perfectly and no game crash, but no visual output (the wine desktop is a Malievich's "Black square") with crackling sound. The only way to correctly quit the program is 2 or 3 times press [Esc].

So, what we have: Updated wine form version 1.5.23 to 1.5.24; Reinstalled game (the launcher updated the game to version 1.5.4); Clear WINEPRFIX just added vcrun2005 and vcrun2008. No crackling sound, the music seems ok. But the Wine desktop still a Malevich's "Black Square". No crash or error messages.

--- Comment #15 from me@jepaan.dk 2013-08-04 11:12:57 CDT --- Just a small note, the original issue was not solved by using a clean prefix, but was fixed in 1.5.17 (or maybe 18), and hence I forgot about it :)
