--- Comment #1 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello Bernd,
your bug report is missing essential information:
Ubuntu 13.10 = Wine version X? Ubuntu 14.04 = Wine version Y?
App version? 1.x? 2.x?
(run 'wine --version' on each)
Did you install the app in clean (new!) WINEPREFIX in Ubuntu 14.04?
Attach terminal output for the non working case after clean install.
If this is a regression, please run a regression test: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

--- Comment #3 from bernd.spahn@web.de --- Dear all thank you for your reply. I try to answer your question
Ubuntu 13.10 and Wine 1.4.1 Ubuntu 14.04 and Wine 1.6.2
The Behringer x32 Edit 2.0 that I use is a single executable file. There is no hint that there is a installation necessary or done while starting the Exe-file.
there is an additional backtrace-file which I could not attach to the bug report yesterday. Now it is attached. The Regression Testing I will start after finishing this comment and will comment the results in a separate addition/comment.
Thank you in advance

--- Comment #4 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello Bernd,
I've looked into this, technically it's not a regression. Wine evolved :)
First, the app seems to be Wine aware = bad

I've seen apps that break just because they try to work around some (older) Wine insufficiencies. Wine is a moving target hence a workaround might become superfluous or harmful at any time.
Tidbit: The app wants to make use of Direct2D - which might prove useful later for testing when Wine gets more mature in that area.

You can work around by disabling builtin 'dwrite' component in settings or start using:

--- Comment #5 from bernd.spahn@web.de --- Hello Anastasius, sorry for my late reply. Thank you very much for your support. I tried your workarounds and installed wine-1.7.19-70. This was unfortunately not the solution of the problem but to start X32-Edit from the terminal with your required parameters is the solution. It is possible to use the application without any starting problems and it runs like it should and as I know it from the past with wine 1.4.1.
Thank you very much again best regards Bernd

--- Comment #6 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello Bernd,
--- quote --- I tried your workarounds and installed wine-1.7.19-70. This was unfortunately not the solution of the problem --- quote ---
Sorry, but I never said that installing wine-1.7.19-70-xxxx is the solution.
I gave the solution here (quoting myself):
--- quote --- You can work around by disabling builtin 'dwrite' component in settings or start using:
$ WINEDLLOVERRIDES=dwrite=d ... --- quote ---
You seem to have my version info on the bottom misinterpreted for the solution:
--- quote --- $ wine --version wine-1.7.19-70-gd6a59f7 --- quote ---
This information is for myself and other developers to indicate the Wine version I used to reproduce the bug (usually tip of GIT master branch). Also checksum and sizes of the installer/binaries.
It's not meant for end users.
Anyway, you've found my workaround in the end. Good to hear it works for you.
