Summary: Autodesk Inventor 11 fails to start Product: Wine Version: 1.1.18 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: ntoskrnl AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: lukasz.wojnilowicz@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=20297) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20297) Inventor.exe Wine 1.1.18
I'm using Wine 1.1.18 (compiled from source using gcc version 4.3.2 20081105 (Red Hat 4.3.2-7) ) on Fedora 10 i386. I installed gecko, dotnet11, dotnet20, directx, mdac27, msxml3, wmp9 through winetricks.
I installed Autodesk Inventor 11 (installer reported it was almost successful) and tried to run it but with no success. In output there was:
Unhandled exception: unimplemented function ntoskrnl.exe.KeInitializeMutex called in 32-bit code (0x7b84203b).
In Bug#17212 Vitaliy Margolen has said that crash was caused by cdr4_2k.sys

--- Comment #1 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2009-04-05 11:55:14 --- Remove your ~/.wine prefix and reinstall your program. You have cd-recording drivers there that won't work with Wine. When reporting bugs DO NOT use winetricks unless explicitly instructed to.
Your problem is this: err:module:import_dll Library FW.dll (which is needed by L"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 11\Bin\Inventor.exe") not found
Search for that library inside wineprefix.

--- Comment #2 from NSLW lukasz.wojnilowicz@gmail.com 2009-04-05 15:25:05 --- (In reply to comment #1) I did as you've said. I used winetricks only for dotnet20 and dotnet11 otherwise the installer hangs.
FW.dll should be in "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 11\Bin\" but there is no FW.dll library in wineprefix at all.
Every time i try to reinstall Inventor (without removing anything) the SP1 for .NET Framework is trying to install. Other components are displayed as already installed.
I searched temp for FW.dll and found it inside msia1aa.tmp file.

FW.dll should be in "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 11\Bin\" but there is no FW.dll library in wineprefix at all.
Have you checked that on windows? It might be installed somewhere else.
I searched temp for FW.dll and found it inside msia1aa.tmp file.
That more indicates the problem with install.
Please start with clean wineprefix (remove it, run winecfg to create it). Install dotnet20 and dotnet11 using winetricks. Run Inventor install redirecting all output into file. After installer finishes, attach this file here.

As i wrote FW.dll should be in "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 11\Bin\" That file is there on MS Windows.
I did as you've said: new wineprefix, winetricks to it.
1) I installed from files on hard disk because Inventor is redistributed so and installs on MS Windows without problems
2) during installation i unchecked all unneeded additions and left only Inventor (default configuration)
3) after installing, Inventor is marked as "need attention" with check signature on setup check list
4)at the end, installer shows that Inventor was installed successfully

--- Comment #5 from Saulius K. saulius2@gmail.com 2009-04-06 13:37:23 --- Couldn't that be a problem which can be traced via +msi channel? (With subsequent grep -i "fw.dll")

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-10-12 14:55:57 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.31 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #8 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2011-12-22 05:32:49 CST --- Hello,
is this still a problem with _recent_ Wine? Please retest (and make sure you operate on clean WINEPREFIX + proper winetricks recipe).
