Attempting to install both the OriginSetup.exe and OriginThinSetup.exe on
32-bit wine-2.0-rc2 yields the same garbage error (pasted because it's so
short):

I couldn't say why it fails, but errors include "err:wintab32:LoadTablet",
"err:d3d:context_create", and "err:ole:CoInitializeEx". The machine has an
Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics card, which was added to wine in bug #39796.

Can you run sha1sum Origininstaller.exe and give the output of both files so we
know that we are testing the same exes?

wine 2.6-git

I had to use workaround for bug 38648.

With wine-staging 2.6 and the trick in use I get a origin window shown shortly.
But it fails too.

Also it seems that this also needs support for bug 40046.

Origin haven't been working quite a long time by now.

Well this is odd. Same wineprefix in use still the workaround for the mesa bug
mentioned before. I thought staging failed too, but for some reason I am
actually able to see the installer view now.

I have tried the Originthin installer and it fails really early 32bit prefix
and wine 2.8-git. With staging 2.8 it goes further using same prefix, but I am
unable to go so far that I could log in. with 64bit prefix and staging 2.8 I am
not able to login either.

Regular wine clearly lacks some staging patches now.

I have a local copy of the installer and it has option to update into newest
possible version.

Fresh wineprefix, wine-staging 2.12. 64bit prefix.

The last message seen at cosole is spammed

I have an origin logo at systray, but it never gives me access to login. I
can't type login details. There is no input fields just while content all over
the origin window.

Also the installer is really slow, but it might be cause of downloading files
and my net has become for some reason pretty slow.

I just tried the latest installers with wine-2.12, and I can't even get to the
installer window. A blank, blue "Origin" window briefly appears, then
disappears, then the program ends.

Why are there so many patches stagnating in wine-staging? It feels like the
maintainers have abandoned the project. I can't even tell you the version of
the Origin installers I'm using because the fix for Bug 40426 has been wasting
away in wine-staging for years.

Origin Installation Terminal Output

Hello everyone,

I just did an installation of the following file

sha256sum OriginThinSetup.exe 
07a83901eef9b0d8267dcfad4369d1180c239b7fca25f4bac9d0e3b65999f966 
OriginThinSetup.exe

which resulted in the attached terminal output. I used the XP/Vista-Thin-Client
for installation.

I have had this issue too I tried wine 4.0.1, 4.10, 4.10-staging and 4.17. I
think this needs more priority since if your unable to install and use the
Origin client, your unable to install and play any games.

I can't reproduce immediate crash in either legacy or latest, full or thin
Origin installers.

Please, retest with current Origin installers and file bugs for new issues.
