When running, for instance, 'wine explorer /desktop=notepad,1024x768
"C:\windows\notepad.exe"' attempting to type in the application (notepad in
this case) will result in characters appearing in the console, not in the
application itself. Keyboard is essentially useless.

Also this bug affects full screen applications. I noticed it in EVE Online
game.

When i launch EVE, it actually does not get focus. Gnome panels are
still above it, i can't type anything using keyboard (it's typed in last
focused window instead), only mouse does work.

Tried both launching it in plain mode or in wine virtual desktop - it
doesn't matter.

It doesn't occur for Warcraft III though - don't know why. The only
difference i caught is that it changes my screen resolution.

I confirm this.

But if I change compiz visual effects settings to "normal" or "extra" from
"none"(Ubuntu 9.04), the wine window is working normal.

I cannot corroborate Anton Vorobyov's report that this bug exists in EVE when
wine virtual desktop mode is enabled. For me, EVE works while in regular
fullscreen mode - text appears in EVE, not in the console that launched it. Are
you sure 'emulate a virtual desktop' is not enabled in winecfg->graphics?

Unfortunately, EVE is rather unstable in regular fullscreen mode - it works
much better in an emulated virtual desktop. I believe this is an EVE bug
though, not a wine bug. (alt-tabbing in windows tends to destabilize EVE)

I'm totally sure that bug reproduces in both cases in its
'EVE-below-gnome-panels' part. As for inability to input anything using
keyboard - will check in couple of hours, but most probably both modes are
affected.
