--- Comment #2 from Ed L winehq@jelmail.net 2013-02-24 15:45:24 CST --- I would love to, however can't for the life of me find a MAC binary of 1.5.24 - My 1.4.1 came with WineBottler. If you can point me in the right direction, I'll get testing ;) Bear in mind I'm new to Mac, 25 years of PC ^^, so Linux knowledge is limited - please tailor any instructions to total n00b level, thanks!

--- Comment #3 from Ed L winehq@jelmail.net 2013-02-24 16:20:30 CST --- For good measure, I completely cleaned WineBottler, Wine, X11 off my system (all Library files also, prefs, caches etc..) Installed Crossover after reboot Crossover has a Tie for FDM, used that to install app.
App fails exactly same way, I'll also add that, in addition to problem above (cannot enter sub-directory in list) right-clicking a single file in directory listing and selecting "Download" has no effect, and that right-clicking a directory and selecting "download" directly (without entering it first) gives an infinite number of "Bad URL" information lines in the bottom console, until operation is stopped.
For Crossover: System information: Wine build: wine-1.5.15-7123-gd00a241 Platform: i386 Host system: Darwin Host version: 12.2.1
Cheers!

--- Comment #5 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2013-02-24 17:38:43 CST --- Not critical. http://bugs.winehq.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#importance
Crossover is not supported here, nor is any other third party version of Wine. Please retest in plain Wine; most of our Mac users recommend using Macports to install it.

--- Comment #14 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

seem to crash the application internally. No idea what happens in wine side.
FDM ver. 3.9.6 build 1614 (10,2 Mb, setup) 5e7c2370082c0e8febd1a27bb1dc85b8845b9e52 fdminst.exe
seems valid issue, but the crash location isn't as clear it has been before.

--- Comment #16 from Damjan Jovanovic damjan.jov@gmail.com --- I cannot reproduce this:
FreeBSD: 12.2 Wine: latest Git, or even 1.7.54 like comment 15 reported Free download manager: 3.8 build 1173, or 3.9.7 FTP server: ftp://archive.ubuntu.com or ftp://ftp.freebsd.org
FTP servers show nothing, unless I right-click the "Site Explorer" pane -> "Site explorer settings" -> tick "Use passive mode". Once they show directories, I can double-click to enter them, and their child directories, any number of times, and it doesn't crash.
However there are many other bugs. Files cannot be downloaded: they stay stuck on 0 bytes. There are focus issues, missing tooltips, etc. The app is open-source though, which is great, and could help resolve many bugs and improve Wine.
Please try to reproduce it yourselves and report if you can still get it to crash. If so, please specify the installation options you used, eg. Bittorrent, the FDM community option, etc.

--- Comment #17 from Bernhard Übelacker bernhardu@mailbox.org --- Created attachment 76049 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=76049 debugging-notes.txt
I could reproduce a crash like in commen 11 and 13 with the current FDM 3.9.7 build 1641 download, or 3.9.2 build 1303.
But it is just visible up to wine-1.5.20. Commit d6c0e8159 modifies InternetCrackUrl, so FDM no longer triggers the crash.
The crash seems to happen because nScheme is set to INTERNET_SCHEME_UNKNOWN, which causes INTERNET_GetSchemeString to return NULL, which gets dereferenced in calc_url_length by strlenW.
Following merge requests attempts to avoid this crash: https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/merge_requests/5069
Attached files contains some more notes on the debugging.
The crash observed in comment 15 with wine 1.7.54 might have another reason.
