Bug ID: 53562 Summary: SWAT 4: mouse wrapping issues Product: Wine Version: 7.14 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: matheus.venturini@acad.ufsm.br Distribution: ---
When beginning a mission in SWAT 4, the mouse will (most often) not allow you to fully rotate your vision in 360 degrees. This can be "fixed" by simply right-clicking, which will cause it to start acting normal.
I've had times where this did not occur when starting a mission so I can't say it's a "can always reproduce" issue, and sometimes, very sporadically, the mouse starts acting faulty again during gameplay for seemingly no reason.
Doing a search, I found an entry for the same issue in Codeweavers' forum: https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/forum/swat-4?msg=108881
The fix suggested in that page, to set "MouseWarpOverride" to "force_edge" in the registry, was not necessary since doing a right-click will make it go back to normal.
Apparently some other games are also affected (GTA Vice City and Bioshock according to the discussion in https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=29663).
I will try to reproduce the issue and attach the log file.

I got the error to happen again while I was playing a level, but even though I ran Wine with the "WINEDEBUG=+seh" option it seems to not have logged the error. I got it to start behaving normally again by firing my gun with the left mouse button. It happened right at the start of the level so it should've been right below the "Havok - Build (20031208), Base system initialized" lines which are always printed when starting a mission. Unfortunately I believe Wine doesn't have a debug channel for cursor issues, but I might just be uninformed.
Another important thing is that I'm running the GOG version of the game.

--- Comment #2 from Matheus matheus.venturini@acad.ufsm.br --- I'm not sure how to add a link to the bug description, but the game's demo can be downloaded at: https://www.moddb.com/games/swat-4/downloads/swat-4-demo I haven't tested if this happen in the demo too.

--- Comment #5 from Matheus matheus.venturini@acad.ufsm.br --- This bug also happened to me in Thief: Deadly Shadows, GOG version (demo: https://www.fileplanet.com/archive/p-55975/Thief-Deadly-Shadows-Demo). The only similarity between Thief and SWAT 4 (and also Bioshock, which I mentioned in the description) is that they are made with Unreal Engine 2, but I'm really not sure if this correlation could mean causation.
