Summary: Guild Wars install and update fails with 0.9.47 (regression) Product: Wine Version: 0.9.47. Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P4 Component: wine-files AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ambro@b4ever.net CC: rob@codeweavers.com
Created an attachment (id=8550) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=8550) install output - last good
Guild Wars fails to install in Wine 0.9.47. After I choose the installation directory it downloads something (says Downloading and the progress bar goes all to the end), but than it just closes. Normally it would go on to download something much bigger (where the number of files and speed is shown). It works with Wine 0.9.46. Also, updating fails with the game already installed, but it works if the game is already up to date. Git bisect says: server: Add primitive support for setting and getting the security descriptor of files based on their Unix permissions.

--- Comment #5 from yann_le_troll yann_gouy@yahoo.fr 2007-10-17 12:35:59 --- I have to confirm this regression.
I got the infamous "fixme:dbghelp:SymInitializeW what to do ??" message back again whereas version 0.9.46 and 0.9.45 seemed to have corrected it.
Guild Wars downloads a file save with the name "GW.001" but doesn't seem to be able to update the "GW.dat" file.
I'm running Ubuntu Feisty 64bit version on a Athlon 3500+ (1Go) with GeForce 6800

--- Comment #7 from Greg Rogers greg.r.rogers@gmail.com 2007-10-19 20:24:17 --- I have this problem too. When GW starts up it modifies the permissions on Gw.exe and Gw.dat which makes updating impossible. If you copy an up to date version of Gw.exe it still requires that you "chmod +rw Gw.dat" every time you run GW.

--- Comment #8 from Rodney Moss edge@rsm.id.au 2007-10-20 00:10:34 --- This error also features writing Gw.dat amd Gw.tmp (also Gw.exe if installing) with weird permissions, ----r----- , and failing saying it can't write to them. fixing the permissions doesn't help.
