Bug ID: 36439 Summary: Wildstar IE7 error on launch ( IE fixmes ) Product: Wine Version: 1.7.18 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: funkydude87@hotmail.co.uk
Created attachment 48461 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=48461 fixmes
When launching the Wildstar executable an error pops up saying "You do not have a browser supported by the Wildstar launcher. Internet Explorer 7 or later is required. Continue?"
If I continue, a wine error (page fault) is produced. Something is preventing the launcher from detecting that IE is "installed".
Attached is the console paste of all the "fixmes" produced when I click continue, before the page fault popup is shown. I could post the page fault but I don't think there's any point? I think it's the amount of IE-related fixmes that causes the fault.

For the record, popup checks for IE version in Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector\IE and otherwise harmless.

--- Comment #2 from funkydude funkydude87@hotmail.co.uk --- Should wine not already have that registry entry created by default for checks like this?

--- Comment #4 from funkydude funkydude87@hotmail.co.uk --- How does one patch that? Is there an ini file somewhere I can edit with that?
I'm also assuming all that will do is fix the nag, not the crash.

--- Comment #6 from Ker noa blue-t@web.de --- the patch increased the version of internet explorer that is reported to the Wildstar Installer, but that only fixes the "your browser is too old" popup.
You could as well modify the value with regedit to let's say 8.0 and the launcher would still crash as you can see in the attached logfile

Instead of IE 7, people are reporting successful installs with IE8 under playonlinux + 32 bit prefix. Changing wine version from 1.7.22 to 1.7.51 also works.
