Summary: Slingplayer video tuning wizard fails Product: Wine Version: 1.1.19 Platform: PC URL: http://download.slingmedia.com/player/pc/SlingPlayer- Setup-EU-1.5.1.343.exe OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: ole AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: kennybobs@o2.co.uk
Created an attachment (id=20389) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20389) Screenshot of error
Slingplayer has a video tuning wizard to allow things like brightness and contrast to be set.
The wizard fails at the first step with the message "Advanced Video Options have been disabled on your computer."
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {51b4abf3-748f-4e3b-a276-c828330e926a} not registered err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {7d8aa343-6e63-4663-be90-6b80f66540a3} not registered
Both classes are related to the Video Mixing Renderer 9, part of DirectX.
"winetricks directx9" does not workaround the problem.
To get to this point, native quartz, qcap and gdiplus are required to work around other bugs.

--- Comment #3 from Ken Sharp kennybobs@o2.co.uk 2010-06-12 20:46:19 --- Gets to the next window in 1.2-rc3 but still fails to play any videos so nothing can be selected.
With DX9 installed one of the videos works, but only one for some reason.

As explained in Bug 31655, {7d8aa343-6e63-4663-be90-6b80f66540a3} becomes registered when upgrading Wine.
Before upgrade:
The Wizard will not continue and clicking on the start button does nothing.
After upgrade:
The Wizard continues but only plays one video, mostly at the correct speed. After which the Wizard meets Bug 31658.
Native qcap, quartz and gdiplus used to get this far.

--- Comment #10 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- No change in wine-1.7.47-84-g2294d3b.
To get it partially working:
1. Install SlingPlayer in an older version of Wine. 2. Upgrade Wine (or whatever is necessary to cause Bug 31655) 3. "winetricks -q quartz" (Bug 38938) 4. wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Sling\ Media/SlingPlayer/SPTuning.exe
Still only the left video plays.
Of course with this partially working, Bug 31655 makes sure that the main application never works again, so it's not much of a workaround.

whatever is necessary to cause Bug 31655
"wineboot -u"
No change in Wine 3.0-rc2 and Staging 2.21.
I have just noticed that the mouse pointer also disappears completely over the right video (that won't play), whereas it works normally over the left video (which does play).

Will update when I've looked into it further. I'm using a new system which may have an effect.

Ummm, I need to fix this, somehow, to test again (not a Wine bug).
