Summary: Virtual Moon Atlas 4 crash on startup Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc3 Platform: PC-x86-64 URL: http://www.ap-i.net/avl/en/start OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: ntdll AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: mverga@freemail.it
Created an attachment (id=13838) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=13838) Output from terminal in pro mode startup
Related to bug 13774: I have DISABLED pulsaudio plugin (if you don't trust me see the output attached), but Virtual Moon Atlas 4 continue to crash on startup, only in expert and pro mode.
This does not happen with xorg standard drivers, installing nvidia kernel module drivers causes ntdll crash. But VMA4 needs OpenGL acceleration, so I need nvidia drivers to get high fps.

--- Comment #1 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-06-09 21:31:06 --- Please upgrade to latest Wine version (rc4). What exact command have you used to run this program? Have you 'cd'ed into program's directory before running it?
What distro?

--- Comment #2 from Mattia mverga@freemail.it 2008-06-10 11:45:13 --- I use Fedora 9 64bit. I tried to open a terminal in the Virtual Moon directory and launch 'wine vmapro.exe' (or vmaexpert.exe) and also to launch with 'wine "c:\Programmi\VirtualMoon\vmapro.exe"', i get the same error.
Wine rc4 is not available in repos, I will try to build using git and I will post results here.
Is there any debug option in particular I can try to help finding what's wrong?

+relay,+seh,+tid is usually helpful for crashes. Also, please install debugging symbols.

Ok, I tried with Wine RC4 (I didn't manage to compile from GIT because I get errors on 'make', but I found RC4 in development repos).
I get the same error, I attached an output with +relay,+seh,+tid. What are 'debugging symbols'? Do you mean winedbg?

No. Compiling from source or installing the debug package will output the actual line numbers in the code in the output of the crash.

Hi, this starts just fine for me. So what exact nvidia kernel module drivers are you using? I have kmod-nvidia (livna i think)
I use Fedora 9 x64 with kernel-2.6.25.4-30.fc9.x86_64 (tried also with kernel-2.6.25.3-18.fc9.x86_64) kmod-nvidia-173.14.05-3.lvn9.x86_64
Wine is configured to be WinXP (tried also Win98 and Win2000) no matter if I disable vertex or pixel shaders. I also tried to reinstall Virtual Moon Atlas.
What mode did you try? I get vmapro.exe and vmaexpert.exe crashing, vmalight.exe is working...

They all 3 work here. I have: kernel-2.6.24.7-92.fc8 kmod-nvidia- 173.14.05-2.lvn8
I wonder that you're able to run anything on kernel-2.6.25*, there seems to be a severe bug with it, i cannot run wine apps at all with kernel-2.6.25*. Maybe you could try revert to a 2.6.24 version

Yes, just tried with a fresh wine installation: -wine-1.1.10-1.fc9.i386 -Virtual Moon Atlas 4.0b -kernel-2.6.27.5-41.fc9.x86_64 -kmod-nvidia-173.14.15-1.fc9.6.x86_64
