I had installed Wine 0.9.51 on my Fedora8 system. The problem is that wine fails to start giving the following message "wait event returned -14". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance

What exactly are you starting? Remove/rename ~/.wine directory and run 'winecfg'. Does it work?

I am getting this error even when i try the basic wine comand as 'wine notepad'. I tried the steps as suggested by you but no success. Below is the output which i am getting.
[latish@localhost ~]$ mv .wine .wine_old [[latish@localhost ~]$ winecfg wine: creating configuration directory '/home/latish/.wine'... wait event returned -14 wine: wineprefixcreate failed while creating '/home/latish/.wine'. Yes. I had build wine myself but that was coz i was getting the same error in the rpm version. I had been using wine on Fedora5 and it had been working smoothly. I have been having this issue since i upgraded to Fedora8. Thnx.

Its enabled in permissive mode. ran wincfg again..same error "wait event returned -14"
